A new type of infection is starting to infect gyms and sports locker rooms across the country.

Staph infections that are resistant to antibiotics were once only a problems for sick people in hospitals or nursing homes.

Now, normally healthy people are getting those same infections.

Sammy Sosa sat out 16 games because of an infection in his foot and a University of Tulsa football player died from a similar infection.

Gyms here in little rock, like powerhouse, have taken steps to protect their members, like offering disinfectant.

"People come in, they get hot, they get sweaty. You have to continually clean the equipment that they`re on," says John Lawrence, the owner of Powerhouse Gym.

The Center for Disease Control says a little disinfectant in high traffic areas is the best way to protect yourself from getting a bacterial resistant infection.

This is pretty much one of the things that I have been worried about. People have shown great concern for the AIDS virus (which is a natural evolution) & yet here we (us humans) have created stronger & stronger bugs & now they are free.

It's almost like a 50's SciFi film only this time it's really happening. Say the bold bit in a deep TV voiceover voice. It just makes it sound better.
