Thank goodness the wiped the kids face off the screen when they showed him throwing it on the pitch last night. His life would be hell! :D

That goal was never suppose to of stood by the FIFA rules that no outside interference are allowed on the pitch, which made the referee be demoted, should of be permanent in my opinion, for one match.....what kind of punishment is that?

Having looked at the rules in greater details I have found out that that goal was legal. The reason being is that the beachball was an afterthought, as in the incident had already happened and with something like that, if a goal is scored, then the goal cannot be disallowed because it has already happened. Now had the referee spotted it, he should have stopped the game, removed said beachball from the pitch and played on.

Plus as Darren Bent said, it's Liverpools fault, Reina had time to see it, kick it away and there wouldnt have been a problem.

If that was disallowed, we'd have to wipe Englands finest moment off the history books......Some people are on the pitch, they think its all over!...... its not, the ref has blown his whistle to clear the pitch and we're restarting with a dead ball..... dosen't really have the same ring to it, lol!

I don't care what the rules say, it should have been allowed to stand purely on comic levels :24:

And kudos to Benitez (for once) who hasn't overdone the moaning about this episode. Liverpool fans that I know on the otherhand............:thumbdown

If Reina had dared to kick it away, who knows what Sunderland would of done with the actual ball, it has been known to go it from distance:thumbdown

Awwwwwww, cheer up, it's not like you've just lost for the fourth time in succession tonight and in the Champions League too and Gerrard is injured again.

Oh :24:

Totally correct...the play was just starting to come up from the other end of the pitch...he had plenty of time to get it out of the way.

i tell you what, liverpools problems don't lie with a beachball.

It's with players like Lucas, Dossena, N'Gog, Babel, Degen etc....

Also true and correct...if at the end of the game your score is zero...you really can't blame the beachball, can you?
