LONDON (AFP) - Hurricane force winds battered parts of Europe, killing at least 27 people and triggering a dramatic air-sea rescue from a sinking cargo ship in the English Channel.

The storms brought torrential rains and winds gusting at close to 170 kilometers per hour (105 miles per hour) to areas of southern Britain, northern France, the Netherlands, Germany and the Czech Republic.

I don' know if we have any members from those parts, But I know Le, has family and friends in the Netherlands.

Hopefully all are ok.

Yeah, there's loads of branches and debris all over the road and footpaths here. A house round the corner from me had a tree fall through it's roof but the residents are ok.

Well we had that huge hurricane which was much bigger in 87 or 88. I remember what a nightmare it was trying to walk home from school in it. My friend got blown backwards down the hill but he was ok!:D
