I have to work tonight, suppose to be there at 6:30. But we also have a "mandatory" meeting at 5:30 but I ALSO have parent/teacher conferences at my girls school. One is at 5:30 and the other one is at 5:40.
Last time we had a mandatory meeting at work it was on the same day as the girls open house at school. I managed to make both the meeting and open house but I about killed myself trying to make both.
Im going to the parent/teacher conference tonight but I have a feeling that Im going to get my butt chewed pretty hard for not making it to the meeting, even thought I told my boss what was going on

What was the last mandatory meeting about? Was it something that wouldn't have mattered if you missed it? Like was it total bullshit?

How can they call it 'mandatory' when it is not even yr shift Amy? Blimey, they don't want much do they? :(

Surely, they cannot hold it against you when that is yr time, not theirs.

It's a tough one to know what to do for the best isn't it, but if it is in yr time, I cannot see how they can do anything about it.

Good luck - not a good position to be put in at all. :) shame yr hubby won't go to the school instead and you can get to work, getting both things done that way and everything's then sorted.

When you told your boss what was going on what did your boss say? Did you just mention to you boss what was going or did you tell your boss that you had a parent/teacher conference already planned? Teachers will normally reschedule a conference if it interferes with work, just let them know.

Oh yes, that's a good point Grace - they do at our schools too. Mind you, we don't have mandatary meetings outside of our working hours, as that is classed as our private time and we cannot be forced to do so, mandatory or otherwise.

Maybe yr teachers will do what Grace was saying. :)

You are so hard-working and yet you are made to feel awkward at times like these. hard going.

Or couldn't yr hubby go instead, as things are tough for you?
