starting your own company

i know you were looking into this with the restaurant V.. so maybe you can help.
I want to register my company name...mostly for tax purposes and for cheaper insurance rates. anyone have any ideas as to what i need to do or who i need to speak with? i tried online but i cant tell whats legit and whats fake...

Call your local courthouse and ask them to send you the form. There is nothing to do it yourself. Just a single form to fill out and a filing fee. I think it took 2 weeks to get mine since they have to do a check to make sure no one else was using that name.

But don't pay someone else to do it for ya, it's a 10 min process at the courthouse. They will prob fax the form to you if you call

what does the fee cost? and do you have to have a business address?

i searched the business name and i couldnt find anyone else with it.. but it it only locally? statewide? whats the deal there?

It's been a while for me, but I believe it was less than $20. Your buisness address will be your home address and your tax number will be your SS number. Like I said, it was very easy when I did it here in PA. So maybe it will be just as easy there... just call the courthouse, but don't fall for those internet thingys
My company name was "Emeral Oaks Construction" and it was good through out the state of PA.

I just looked in PA and it can all be done on-line now. I did an on-line search for my old company name and it's still active. It was created on 10/23/1989

Holy hell, and the new fees for filing for a fictitious name in PA is $70
