Spanking in Schools

here, they send home a note for you to sign to give them permission for corporal punishment. i signed it. i spank at home if needed, they have my permission to do the same. but its not the go to form of discipline (for me or the school) warnings and other forms are given out first. when those dont work, spanking is the last result. majority of the time, its never gotten that far

Docking time off recess is probably more effective.

When I was in elementary school, we had two recess spots. One was the playground, one of those all wooden ones with lots of slides and monkey-bars and such. It was built sometime during the 80s and was only recently demolished. Kids loved it so much that their parents would bring them to play on it during the weekends. The other spot was a blacktop where you could do lots of blacktop type stuff. One class painted a map of the United States, with each state a different color. The map stayed there for a good 10+ years. That was some good times.

Yea so, no recess = good punishment.

i do too. but, i honestly thought it was like that everywhere. I know some schools give you the option of letting them deal with it, or YOU go up to the school and do it yourself.

The problem I foresee with this is what one teacher thinks warrants a spanking could differ from the other and where do they draw the line? I've gotten detention in high school for "swearing" when I stubbed my finger on a table in a resource room and all I said was "damn it"

A valid point. The permission form would need to indicate, "You authorize the school to apply corporal punishment that is deemed fit by school officials and that the cause for corporal punishment is held directly by the school." Otherwise there will be conflict between parents and school officials on what is deemed "appropriate" to use corporal punishment.

Most schools (at least around here) require parents and students to sign a form acknowledging that they understand the rules and consequences. I'm sure something similar exists for corporal punishment.

Here I am chattin' about a form of school punishment that I didn't even know still existed. lol

I would hope that they would be wise enough to make it pretty clear.

I am not in favor of corporal punishment in schools. And a principal that did perform corporal punishment on my kid, would be put over my knee and spanked himself\herself by me.

As a kid, I was once spanked by the principal at school (back in the 80's). I had it coming. And it got me to stop acting inappriopriately.
