I am on bed rest so I decided last night after I beat a game that I should download a new one for today. So I bought a digital download for Sims 3 off of EA Games last night, and it cost me 50$, then I went to bed, I woke up today and it wasn't even half way there, it said it had 25 hours left. :willy_nilly: Oh well, wtf, I geuss I'll just go watch some videos on youtube or hulu or something. So I go to Youtube, and my audio has stopped working. I go to my videos to see if I play one of the videos on my pc, if my audio works then, and all of my video files are curropted! :mad

I am very protective of my PC, so I have never illegally downloaded a thing on it. Before and even during some of the dowload last night everything was still working. So the only thing that has changed is this download. WTF is going on with my computer and how do I fix it???

when I try to play a video file it says "Windows Media Player cannot access the file. The file might be in use, you might not have access to the computer where the file is stored, or your proxy settings might not be correct."

First thing that comes to my mind is the Codecs. Maybe some codec files got damaged or something, try downloading the K-lite Codec Pack (google it), and also download GOM player whitch enhaces sound and quality of your videos,

All the stuff mentioned above are free and legal, also i have em for over 2,5 years so i'm pretty sure there are no viruses and stuff.

And remember wherever you store a file into your hard drive it automaticaly makes a copy in the Temp folder, try searching your entire computer for same file names.

Kinda obvious but have you tried restarting? You could try restoring your computer to a previous backup?

it might be that something that comes with sims 3 changes your default player to something else?

something other than windows media files. right click and look at properties on your video files - what type does it say they are?

I am waiting for the download to complete (I've already waited 30 hours) then rebooting, and then if it still doesn't work I am taking it to Geek Box so they can fix it for free.
