I dont understand why she hasn't stepped up and gotten our son a Halloween costume yet. I say she has too, because I have to work that night. I wont even get to see him on Halloween. So I am going to take him out today and do it.

But wait there is more. His Bday party is on the 7th of november and I have to take on everything for that too. Thank god I have Alyssa. She is going to be such a big help. She already has so many great ideas for the party.

Rant over.

I'm grateful that while my ex and I don't particularly agree on a lot of things... we're still able to get along for the most part, especially where Zachary is involved.

Well we always have for our son. But since her BF moved here from SC this summer she has been more occupied with him, than she has with our son.

One of my kids came home from school one day and asked my wife and I when were we getting a divorce because all their friend's parents had already gotten one. Unfortunately they had seen the side of the parents trying to buy the child's affection. One of my daughter's friends got a $50 a week allowance from each parent in addition to whichever one she spent the weekend bought her new clothes & latest music.

ugh, that's sad. We've already agreed that nothing like that is going to happen. We're both just as strict with him as the other, and have basically the same rules, so he won't be able to play one against the other.

I am glad we dont have that problem. We both spoil him equally. However with certain things, she just drops the ball.

That sucks but at least you can help him pick the costume that has the messiest face paint so she has to clean it up.

Plus he will remember how you took him to get it.

I wish I could do the face paint thing. But he has such sensitive skin. He would break out so bad. I am just going to a halloween store with him. To let him pick out what he wants.

Well the big plan was originally going to be the whole Chucke cheese thing. But she wanted me to pay for it and everything else. Thats fine, but it was going to cost me close to $500 by the end of the party.

Then we decided to have it at her house. Lots of people. BBQ, games, prizes, Maybe a jumping castle.

We take my son there every year. We don't do the party thing though it is a lot cheaper. Then we usually have cake later.

Bbq sound fun. Don't forget the pinata:clap

i know you are already doing this, but keep in mind that your kid isn't going to understand that the reason he doesn't get something is because his parents are having a standoff

and he may never realize that you do more for him than his mother does.

i am a child of a "broken home" and it was rare when I would get anything I needed because my parents were too busy playing the "go ask your father/mother" game. and it sucked a big hooha

now i realize my mom was doing all she could, and my dad was being a little bitch.

so good for you for being there despite your ex. just don't let it burn you out, and don't expect a big thanks except the smile on his face until he is much much older

Well I dont do the ask your mother thing with him. I always get him what he needs. Try to get him what he wants. That is one thing I will never do, is put him in the middle.
