Such a program and pictures should tip off any light data user of a phone.. Sending data with pictures can and usually uses quite a bit of bandwidth especially on the new phones with 8 MP cameras.

Seeing this Trojan is only a demo of what is possible by a University I would not doubt many are out there already and exist.. Anyone with a cell phone and no Malware on it is looking for trouble..

easy fix
just put a manual sliding door over the cams
and for phones already manufacturer without it just cover them up with something
make third party phone covers that have a piece to cover the cam eye that is easily removable or slid-able
