And I thought I'd share it with y'all for a discussion or just a chuckle if you'd like.

Some Dude said:
Capitalism is the historic evolution of PRIVATE PROPERTY RELATIONSHIP of ALIENATION, EXPLOITATION and SUFFERING of humanity in a modality of COMMODITY PRODUCTION FOR PROFIT in a politically manipulated MARKET SYSTEM of artificial scarcity and manipulation, perpetuating the conditions of servitude and bondage of the WORKING CLASS in the interest of the OWNING/RULING CLASS. The WAGE SLAVERY OF IMMENSE HUMANITY in a monetary web of control, exploitation and deception is the template of the Tyranny of Capitalism no matter whether its Corporate dominated or State dictated .We need to create a Majority Democratic movement of no Leaders no Followers UNITY for a WORLD OF COOPERATION FOR OUR COMMON NEEDS AND WELL BEING in harmony within and without. A moneyless, classless, stateless communities of humanity expressing multitude of creative energies in freedom of BEING.

We have all the means for a world of plenty in harmony. Capitalism is organised suffering.

YOURS in UNITY

Didn't realise there were so many of us out there until recently, quite a vibrant anarchist scene :D

I think Compton and Watts still fit that description. They're moneyless & classless, as well as jobless, pointless, and hopeless. :)

I was surprised to read that about the whole "moneyless" thing, I'm assuming that he meant money in it's current form... though it's difficult to tell really, it's not the best written rant...

I'm in a Capitalist country at the lowest end of the food scale and guess what? I have a comfortable home, adequate health care, decent food, clothing and warmth and I still have enough left over to have holidays, tellies and entertainment. I would say, given my personal opinion, that the person who posted that to you is so far off the mark it's untrue.

why do you think you have those things? you certainly don't have health care thanks to capitalism, that was brought about as part of the struggle against capitalism.

Tellies and home entertainment you can afford purely because of the poor saps in the orient that haven't stood up to their bosses and demanded a fair wage yet, meaning they can be manufactured cheap enough for you to afford. That will happen, and you can kiss those luxuries good bye! If it was all made in Blighty, by British workers, you'd be paying a hell of a lot more for that kind of thing.

You also have to remember that whilst Britain has a reasonably capitalistic economy, it's tempered with social democracy.

You keep blurring the line between our political ethos, and our economic model.

Related yes, but often in your posts I feel they're almost interchangeable.

For example, the social democracy you speak of is directly possible because of our capitalist economic model. There is even an argument to say that democracy itself is a product of capitalism. The right to vote made equals of us all, but it was the redistribution of power and wealth from feudal overlords to entrepenuers and the merchant classes that started the process.

Actually thinking about it, you've raised an interesting point there Zorak.

How can we consider ourselves to be remotely democratic when we have no say over the running of the economy and the monetary system? That's all in the hands of the unelected elite.

Answers please! Oh, and none of that "the market takes care of itself" nonsense.

There's no argument to say that democracy is the result of capitalism, none whatsoever.

The two SHOULD be interchangeable, we should have a say in the economic say.

Well, I don't think it's quite true to say those elected have no say in the running of the economy. However, this is a country of free enterprise.

Anyway, from what I hear on the right, there's already too much regulation on that sort of thing! :surrender

It wasn't socialism or anything else that overthrew feudalism, I'll tell you that much for free (I know you anarchists like stuff for free :D )

yeah the right love to say how an unregulated market with run smoother. Such a chap is the Matt Ridley, CEO of Northern Rock. He's written a book that calls govt intervention in the market place as "a self-seeking flea on the backs of the more productive people of this world … governments do not run countries, they parasitise them.”

He then went running to the govt for a bailout when he'd totally fucked his bank up during a period of practically ZERO regulation...

democracy has been around for far longer, Zorak. During early capitalism, do you think people had the vote?

Crikey, it wasn't until the early 20th Century that Britain could claim to be a democracy. We'd been capitalist for a long time before that. (1928 was the year women got equal voting rights).

But it was parliament that started in the 15th Century, an early indicator of the shift in power and wealth that was coming.

But most telling was the colonisation of the New World, the first opportunity for the free man to make money in his own name. Compounded by the subsequent rebellion from an overzealous monarch.
Power had been shifting for centuries, and it's because of the increase in global trade and competitive markets.

correlation doesn't equal causation. I see what you're saying, but capitalism really didn't bring about democracy. Democracy for the average person came as the result of struggles against the capitalists.
