Chapter One: Survival

Christian and Matthew woke up to the sounds of gunshots. They both took out their guns. Christian’s was black with a grip so there would be no fingerprints to trace if they ever were caught by the fuzz. “Christian it’s ok.” Said matt as he looked over at his brother. Christian’s sapphire blue eyes looked over to him through his brownish blackish hair colored bangs that fell into his eyes. He nodded and put his gun down. He quickly dressed in faded blue jeans and a white shirt with a black sweatshirt. In the live they lived it all depended on how you looked. If you dressed in a certain outfit you would be a part of the Outsiders. Or if you dressed another way you would be in the Renegades. Christian, His brother Matt and Nicole were in the Outsiders. He and Matt went to the same school and had all their classes together so they were always together. Christian had brownish blackish hair and his bangs fell into his sapphire blue eyes. Christian for some reason always wore something that was black. That something all of the three teens had in common. Matt dressed in a white long sleeved buttoned shirt and dark blue jeans. Christian put his black vans skater shoes on and went downstairs. He ran into Nicole. “Hey Cole.” He said smiling slightly. “Got your things?” She asked. Nicole was always straight to the point. Christian nodded so slightly it was like a twitch of the neck. Nicole’s blue eyes looked right into his. She sometimes scared Christian with that dark look of hers. She wore a black T-shirt with the words “Maximum Ride” on it. She wore slightly faded blue jeans and camouflage sneakers. She was the leader of the Outsider. Christian and Matthew were in second command. The gang was hesitant to let her in first command after the first leader and his right hand men were killed. They were also hesitant to let two 13 going on 14 kids in command. But Nicole scared them so much and she was a natural leader so they let her in command. The family had breakfast and then Nicole called up to Matt. “Matt we leave in 5!” Matt came down the stairs faster then a roadrunner. Nicole handed Christian and Matthew two switchblades. “Nicole we got guns. We don’t need these.” Christian said as he held the blue handled switch in his hand. “Unlike guns, switchblades don’t require ammo.” She said as they walked out of the house. Locking the doors behind them they walked on the sidewalk. Christian and Matthew pulled up their hoods to keep the sun out of their faces. They saw three members of the Renegades smiling evilly at them. “Hey Outcasts!” Sneered one of them. A black haired kid with lots of rings on his fingers. They drew their guns. Christian and Matthew looked at Nicole. The twins and their sister took the word “Crack-shot” to a whole new meaning. They both pulled out their guns and pointed them at the Renegades. No one move a muscle.

Chapter Two: No Reason

Christian and Matthew looked at the Renegades. They were both were daring to make the first move. Christian was itching to shoot one of them in the head and watch him fall to the ground. “Hey Renegades do you think those rings will stop a bullet?” Asked Christian. “No you idiot. Well ‘acourse you don’t know that it wont stop the bullet because your just drop outs who know nothing!” Sneered the one with the rings. “Well then you must of fail English class dude.” Said Matthew. Christian pointed two fingers to the ground, which meant that this could get ugly. Matt nodded and all three took cover behind an old dark blue Ford. Christian waited in silence. And then just like that it began. He heard the Bang! Bang! Bang! Of the guns going off. Christian looked at them. He then opened fire. They were ducking to fast. “I can’t hit one!” he yelled over the gunfire. “Keep shooting!” Yelled Matt as they opened fire once more. The two gangsters around the black haired kid were gunned down. “Your gonna regret that you stupid kid!!” Yelled the kid. He tossed his gun to the side because it was out of ammo. Christian left the cover of the car and pointed his still smoking gun at the gangster. The smell coming from the gun flooded Christian’s nose and tinged it. The Gangster charged at Christian a 6 inch switchblade drawn, He tackled Christian and held the knife to his throat. “I can’t get a good shot.” Said Matt in a hushed tone. The Gangster raised the knife and there was a Bang. The Gangster stopped and dropped the knife before falling down dead. Nicole held a smoking pistol. “God…” Christian panted as he got up and grabbed his kicked away pistol. He hid it against his stomach in his waistband of his jeans. “Thanks Cole.” He said as he walked over to her. He smiled at her. “Lets go.” Nicole said. The twins fell into step with her. “Why did this war start anyway?” asked Matthew. Nicole didn’t look at him. She just continued walking. “The two gangs messed with each other way back. Since then. War.” She said. Matthew nodded taking this in. “So for no reason this war started?” Christian asked. “Some people don’t need a reason to start a war, or a Mafia. God only knows why people form the wars and make these gangs. Maybe just to show that there tough I don’t know.” Nicole said as they walked to the Outsider hang out. The Outsider hang out was a big building. As big as a Costco. Other members stood around the building as they entered. “Yo Cole. These dudes been movin’ in on our turf man” One tan skinned member said with a thick New York accent. “Then we push ‘im off our turf.” Cole said as they cheered and flashed their guns and switchblades. Christian knew the war was about to take a bad turn.

Chapter Three: Brothers and Sisters

Christian, Cole and Matt looked at the guy. “Who the heck are you?” Asked Cole as they looked at him. The tan kid smiled. “Mason” he said. Mason wore all black clothes he wore a sleeveless shirt and black cargo pants. He had a tattoo of flames crawling down his right arm. He had black hair that fell into his black eyes. “Your not part of the Outsiders are you?” Asked Cole. “And that can only mean one thing.” Christian said. Everyone took out their weapons. “Woah woah!” Said Mason. “Guys I aint a threat. I came here so I could join you.” Mason explained. All weapons were put away. Mason was given a chain and was blindfolded. “What are you doing?” Asked Mason. “You want in? This is how you get in.” Christian said. “Lights!” Nicole said. The lights went out and it turned into pitch-black darkness. “You can’t see, use your other senses to get us down before we beat you senseless.” Matthew said. They all ran around Mason. Hitting him with lead pipes that were scattered around the building. One by one Mason took the gang members down. Finally he and Cole were the only ones who were standing. Mason heard her breaths and he swung the chain. The sound of a twack was heard throughout the building and Cole groaned. “Lights!” She ordered and the lights turned on. Every Outsider was on the ground in pain. Mason looked at the scene and asked, “So am I in?” Cole looked at him. “Your in.” she said. Mason smiled and looked at them each with a smile. “Everyone come on. We got a battle tonight.” Cole said as they all walked out. Christian turned around seeing someone running towards them. “Hey Cole look.” Christian said as a slightly red haired girl ran up. “Gabriel!” Cole said as she hugged Gabe. “What are you doing here?” Cole asked slowly. “You kidding? I never miss a fight.” Gabe said smiling. She wire spike bands on her wrists and a skeleton necklace around her neck. She was the only member of the gang that actually wore all black. Strangely she was the one who was jailed the most with a rap sheet that could reach from New Jersey to Washington D.C. Christian smiled as he hugged her. The gang members walked to the fight. Their shadows stretched and the sun got lower. Finally the Renegades came. “Lets do this!” said one.

Chapter Four: The Call To War Comes Strong

The allied gang with the Outsiders stood next to them. Christian’s hands turned into tight fists as he saw the Renegades get out of their cars and face the Outsiders. “Hello Nicole.” Said the leader of the Renegades. His name was James and he really knew how to push someone’s buttons. James and Cole walked forward and they looked at each other. “I’ll take you on.” James said. Cole drew her fist back and punched James hard in the face. “oooh” said members of the Outsiders. The Renegades charged at the Outsiders. The once quiet night was pierced by the shouts of the gang members on both sides. It erupted into a brawl of flying fists, taunts and cussing. Christian and Matthew stayed close to each other. Matthew took on a blond kid who was the same height of him. Christian took a on a 5’11 Renegade who was swinging madly trying to hit him. Christian was knocked down and the five foot gangster stood above him. “Your going down.” He said as he bent down to laugh in Christian’s face. Christian raised one leg and hit the Renegade in between the legs. The gangster let out a high-pitched squeal “Mother…” he squealed. He fell over and Christian joined his brother. Soon the brawl ended with the Renegades going back to their cars. Christian wiped some blood off the corner of his mouth. Matthew tended to a large cut from when one of the gangsters who were wearing cleats stepped on his arm. “Okay everyone go home and meet tomorrow at the hangout. Christian and his siblings walked home for a good nights rest.

The sun peaked through Matthew’s curtains as he woke up that morning. Christian and Cole were already awake and getting ready to leave to go to the hangout. Matt jumped out of bed and donned his usual clothes. He and Christian and Cole left the house to go the hangout.

Something bothered Christian. He knew something was going to happen but he couldn’t put his finger on it. He walked with his brother and sister to the hangout. Even when Cole was explaining what they were going to do today it still nagged Christian. Little did he know the call of war would soon be answered

Chapter Five: Allies

Christian had fallen into a deep and restful sleep during the quiet car ride to the city that never sleeps. He was jolted awake by the car coming to a sharp halt making his head bang against a window. He woke up and hopped out of the car. They were in New York. He looked around at all the towering skyscrapers and the sun shining through the clouds and the morning fog. Christian glanced at his sister as she put on her black leather jacket that she nearly always wore. Christian unzipped his sweat jacket and Matthew did the same so they moved in the wind as they walked. “Who or should I say what are we here for?” asked Christian as he glanced at his sister. “Arthur Zambozi.” Nicole stated simply. “The boss of the Zambozi crime family?” Matthew asked. Nicole nodded simply. They walked into a large building. Christian and Matthew did their usual scan. The smell of the room stunk of cigar and cigarette smoke. Christian and Matthew put their hoods up so it casted a shadow across their faces. They walked into a large room with 12 men sitting around a very large table. The boss or don as they referred to him as sat at the head of the table. He was between thin and fat and looked in his mid sixties with brown eyes and grey hair nearly going white. Everyone drew guns but the Outsiders outnumbered them. “Guns down unless you want a dead crime family Zambozi” Nicole ordered. “Who the hell are you to order me around?” The man asked drawing a silver revolver and pointing it at Cole. Christian and Matthew fire a single bullet each knocking the gun out of the man’s hand. “Now me and my gang are here to make a deal.” She said as she stood on the table squatting to look the man eye to eye. “I don’t deal with kids.” The man said. Cole gave him a dark look and wrapped her hand around his throat squeezing. A low gurgling noise came from the Don. “Alright alright!” the man choked out. “What do you need?” He asked as the doors closed and the speaking could begin.

Chapter Six: The final deal

The Don regained his composer after the gun was taken away from his head. “Why should we ally ourselves with a bunch of kids?” he asked. “A bunch of kids?” asked Cole. “Our gang spreads so far across some of our members are in Ireland!” she said looking at the Don with a serious look. “Still it would be bad business if we were to allow ourselves to be threatened by a bunch of kids.” He said. He took out a silver revolver with a black grip and pointed it at her head. Cole didn’t flinch. “One of these two things will happen if you grow a pair to pull that trigger. The police will come and investigate or I will die and one of my brothers with kill you and everyone in this room will die along with all the men in this building and my brothers are both good with guns and they will kill someone even if they beg for mercy.” She said crossing her arms across her chest. “So Mr. Z…what will it be?” She asked. The man reluctantly lowered the gun. “Good choice.” Said Cole. Christian took the gun away from the man. “What are your names?” Mr. Z asked. “Call me Fangs, These two behind me are Tate and Cyler. My brothers.” She said looking at the man. The man smiled a tiny bit and nodded slightly. “Alright then. You got yourselves a deal.” Said Zambozi. He held out his hand. The two boys moved to either side of their sister. They held out their hands. The man shook their hands one by one. “Good-bye Zambozi.” Cole said turning her back to the man and walking out. Christian turned before he left. Zambozi had a cigar in his hand. Christian whipped out the revolver and shot the cigar like an expert marksmen. “Don’t smoke.” He said dropping the revolver and walking out. The gang walked out of the building and back into the streets. “What now?” asked Mathew. “We find some place to stay.” Said Cole. “I have a friend here. He’s got connections. He’ll find us a place.” Christian sat taking out his cell phone. He called his friend and a place was set up. “Lets go. 54th street.” He said waving a hand and walking the other way. They came to another building and walked in. Beds were against the walls. The place was exceptionally big. “Enough room to hide a tank.” Christian said. “It’s good.” Cole said. “Sleep now.” She said. Everyone climbed into different beds and soon it was dark.

Chapter Seven: The Loss

Christian slowly woke that morning and he sat up in the small bed and rubbed his eyes. He looked around at his surroundings. Still in the same place. That was something good. But something was wrong. Something that nagged him. He hopped out of the bed and took his gun in his hand. He pulled back the clip that clicked the clip of ammo into a ready position with a soft click. He slowly walked through the warehouse looking that everyone was in the place they needed to be. He froze when he had gotten to the last bed in the large building. Matthew was gone. He quickly woke up everyone and told them what was going on. “We have to find him.” Nicole said simply. They all began their search to find the missing brother and Outsider. The cold wind blew harshly against each of their faces. Some were concerned. Matt had not only been the leader’s brother he had been a friend of the gang. This gang that the trio had made 2 months after their parents were killed in a gang-like murder, had become their family. When the gang first started they choose the members. They had asked all the homeless and orphan kids they could find in New Jersey. They had to get the guns. That was the easy part of the job. They had stolen from a local gun shop all the pistols they could grab. That’s all Cole would allow them to grab. Christian smiled at the memory of he and his brother both grabbing AK-47s off the wall and both saying in unison “Say hello to my little friend!” Christian smiled fondly to himself for a moment before snapping back to reality. They had to find his twin. After about two hours of searching they came upon a sight that would haunt the members of the gang and Christian until they lie on their deathbeds. Two adult males about in their thirties had a pistol each pointed to the fourteen year old’s head. Matt however just had his eyes closed waiting for the inevitable. The time seemed to go very slowly for Christian and his sister. He watched the gun discharge into his brother’s head and watched him fall to the ground slowly. Before anyone had a chance to stop him he ran towards the men with the guns. He grabbed one and spun him using him as a human shield he watched the man’s stomach basically turn into cheese. He threw the dead body to the ground and ran towards the other. He jumped on him knocking him to the ground. He wanted to end this one slowly. He punched the man’s face until he had cracked knuckles that bled to his fingertips. “No! No!” he shouted as the other’s pulled him off the dead man. Christian looked at his brother’s dead body and cried hysterically. He hadn’t cried for two years. He had seen horrors, true horrors that he didn’t even flinch at. Christian looked at his sister who was crying quietly.
One more casualty to a seemingly never-ending war. Except for one thing.
This war. Ends. Now.
