I find out through Facebook. >.> I mean, no we're not super close but we do see each other or talk at least once or twice a month. They don't know what's going on yet, he's being poked and prodded and is about to have an ultrasound done... they think it might be gallbladder related. I can't help but laugh at the situation... I'm pretty sure that my parents, sister, and even ex-wife all knew... but I find out on the internet over an hour later. :24:

Him... I absolutely hate finding stuff out through Facebook or something when pretty much almost everyone else knows.

As for your brother; hope he's okay n stuff. :p

That's awful, imagine having to find out through Facebook, of all places! Can just imagine the newsfeed now;
"like for looks"
"*pic of someone with cancer someone has liked*"
"someone needs some carrots in Farmville"
"Your brother is in hospital"

All joking aside however, hope he's alright!

Well, they sent him home but want him back first thing in the morning. They think he might have early stage appendicitis, but they couldn't determine anything for certain. Ordinarily, he would've just gone to see my dad (he's a doctor), but he left this afternoon with my mom to go to Anaheim for a conference.

Good thing it is early stage.

What a shock to find that on FB! :eek

Hope he's all right Nic, sucks that no one told you about it though. It sounds non-urgent? Maybe they didn't think there was any point worrying you with a phone call.

It seems like my kids' ER runs always happen in the middle of the night. If it's 2 in the morning, and I'm worried about my kids, the last thing I want to do is call everyone who loves them and worry them too. So I normally will update via FB, then they can see what's going on and call/text to get more details. My sister bitches about it, but it works for me. I don't have time in the moment to call 4 grandparents, 1 great grandparent, my sister, my husband's sister, and whoever else everytime one of my kids has croup, or needs a few stitches.

same with jezz i really only ever call my mom. every other person gets a FB update. being that my daughters have CF they are in and out of medical care often. im not phoning a long list of people every time to explain whats going on. TBH it takes time away from my frightened toddler who needs my full attention. 1 quick FB update and i feel thats all i really owe anyone at that moment.
