that you were over- qualified for something?

i'm looking for a second job, cuz we are transitioning one of the kiddies to kindergarten, so we wont be working with him as many hours come nov/dec.... so i figured i'd get a head start....

anyways-- i've been interviewing here and there when i see something interesting.. so i found something i was pretty interested in just doing tutoring.. nothing in special education just tutoring high school kids after school and whatnot... so i'm on the horn with this woman asking about the job blah blah blah.. and she started asking me about my jobs abd background... and she actually said to me... i" dont think this job is going to be a good match for you because you are overqualified"...

now before you all jump in and say it.. nothing about salary came up.. i wasnt asking for anything more than any other employees... and the bitch basically told me i wouldnt get the job because " i would expect more than they could give me"

UMMM NOOOOO... i didnt ask for shit before you jumped to conclusions... i knew the salary and requirements before i applied.. DUHHHH... so why would i be interested in it if i wasnt a good match?? WTF WTF WTF :wtf :wtf :wtf

Nope. Can't say's I've ever had that happen to me. But just look at it this way... there's always something better out there. Maybe by you not getting this job because you are "overqualified" you might be setting yourself up for an even better job.

first thing i thought of truthfully was the salary. they probally would think you would ask for more money cause you are "over qualified" for the job. same thing happend with my mom a long time ago. they dint hire her cause she was over qualified for what they were looking for.

so IDK what to tell ya. sucks that dint hire ya cause you were over qualified.

normally you dont hire an over qualified person because EVENTUALLY it will either come to them wanting a raise, or they are hitting the road. Most employers want someone for the long haul, it costs them money to hire someone new.
