WARNING!!! Super long post!

There was a bit of drama at work today.

A little background; I work for my dad as a digital telephone technician. I basically install, program and maintain ESI phone systems, as well as doing grunt work like wire runs, jacks, plates, etc etc. We have three techs, myself, my brother, and Bobby. Then we also have a sales lady named Sharon, and an office manager named Kathy.

My dad started up a second company last February called NH Fiber Optics. Basically what it is is a crew of guys installing fiber optics in apartment buildings, retrofitting and new construction. My mom is basically the lead of this company, she takes care of the paperwork, product ordering and apt. complex management. She's in charge of our lead tech for this and all the crew members.

My mom doesn't normally take shit from anyone. She'll speak her mind. The problem with this is the fact that... neither will Sharon. They're both AA personalities. Not a good combination with someone like Sharon.

My dad and Sharon have been friends for YEARS, I mean years beyond my lifetime actually. Sharon is the type of woman who will scheme to turn people against others to make sure she gets what she wants, and she'll let you know when she gets something she wants. Basically the type of person you want as a sales manager.

Tuesday night we had our NHFO shareholders meeting. Not 5 minutes into it, Sharon bluntly says "Now these P&L Sheets are all wrong, I thought we went from month end to month end".

It sounds honest and innocent enough, but you had to hear her tone and how it was said. My mom stands right up, grabs everyone's P&L sheets, storms into the other room and reprints them.

Exact same numbers, different dates. Whoopty do really.

Wednesday my mom was doing a lot of cleaning and wasn't talking to ANYONE. Growing up with this woman I know this means she's pissed off... so I just did my normal hugs and gave her some backrubs and went about my day yesterday.

Today started off like any normal day. I woke up at 7:20, got ready for work and got there at 8:03. Oh well, just a bit late. No biggy since we sit there till 9 most days anyway. Well... not today.

I walked in and my mom had asked to talk to Sharon as she was walking back to hand my brother some paperwork.

[shit hitting fan]

Oh hell... my mom asked her what she ever did to her... why Sharon treats her with such disrespect, why she talks down to her like she's a child, etc.

Sharon was caught off guard, which I found funny. The conversation progressed to the point where Sharon starts making excuses, which pisses my mom off so she raises her voice.

"What do we have to do so that from this day forward you WILL start treating me with respect? We don't have to be friends outside of work, but as long as we are both in this office, YOU WILL treat me with respect."

Finally my dad interjects and takes them up front where they don't talk at all anymore (so I heard later).

Meanwhile, me, my brother and Bobby were sittin in the back fumbling for our cigarettes trying to not pay any attention to it.

So yeah, a little bit of interoffice stress inducing drama.

IMO, My mom was completely in the right though. Sharon has treated my like I'm 12 years old since the first time I started working for my dad. Granted I'm not super mature, but that's not something she needs to be deciding in barely knowing me.

Wow, Though I have to say I dont blame your mom, and I think she was right for asking Sharon straight out.
