I don't think tattoos are looked down on nearly as much as they used to be, but there are still some people who are very judgmental about it. I have a several friends who are pretty much covered in tattoos...a lot of them are police officers, soldiers, paramedics, firefighters, and so on. Sometimes people spend so much time judging a book by it's cover that they don't take time to get to know the story inside. It's a shame, really.

This is a very EXCELLENT post! While we humans are doomed to have first impressions (which in some cases is a good thing) we do have to remember to keep the mind open and not jump to conclusions that we "know" this individual completely just based on first looks. This is true for all appearances. I have witness people being rude to individuals who have the "nerd" look even well into the adult world. Judgmental people will always loose out in a lot in life.

I've seen a couple of women that had loads of tattoos on their legs. They just looked dirty. *shrugs*

As for my liking of tattoos, I like a nice arm tattoo on a guy. For the girls, only something small if it shows.

I wonder how those with tattoos today will feel about them when they are older. Like in their 70's and up. LOL! Sorry.... it just reminds me of some jokes I've heard but I can't share here cause I can't remember them. :p

I agree with this.

As far as judging someone goes...

I work very hard on not judging a book by it's cover, I will admit that I once thought that people with a lot of tattoos were 'trouble' and tried to steer clear of them, I've grown up since and realize it's just one's form of expression. I also thought all athletically-inclined men were 'dumb jocks', all accountant were boring, all 'made-up' women were stupid and so on....

Now, I believe;

Everyone has a story, everyone should be given a fair shake and start out with a clean slate...who the hell am I to think I can pass judgement on anyone?? Hahaha, I'd like to know what people thought of me over the years...scratch that...no I wouldn't!

I don't judge on ink - but I just think that if you're the type of person who gets full sleeves or facial tattoos then you should also have thick skin and not give a fuck what anyone else thinks.

I can agree w/ that...and I think that most don't. I think the situation you described is different, though, b/c it really boils down to descrimination based on appearance.

I know quiet a few like this also Natasha. More kudos to them for not being afraid to be themselves with them too. Definitly should never judge a person for that reason. Hell one of the best in the school and also my favorite teacher my last year in high school was covered with full sleeves.

I never assume people online in comparison pictures are really dressed as the profession expressed in said photos.. Because.. Well.. It's online and he could be a professional model ;)
Though yes it very well could be this 1 guy is a model....see above!

I have never judged a person with a tattoo but I do prefer none..

I guess it stems from when I was younger and my brother had to have one removed.. They skin grafted part of his hip onto his arm and told him his nerve endings would never feel anything again. To this day his arm looks twice as bad as it did with the tattoo and he still has no feeling in his arm.

All that pain so he could move up in a management job that he eventually lost.
