Someone posted this on my tattoo artist's Facebook today and I liked it so much I wanted to share it.

I don't think tattoos are looked down on nearly as much as they used to be, but there are still some people who are very judgmental about it. I have a several friends who are pretty much covered in tattoos...a lot of them are police officers, soldiers, paramedics, firefighters, and so on. Sometimes people spend so much time judging a book by it's cover that they don't take time to get to know the story inside. It's a shame, really.

I look down on muscle tees

:jk
I think that is a pretty impactful image. I know I tend to imagine people who are really covered in tattoos are usually not doctors. I assume they're more creative types.

Used to it was assumed that only bikers and criminals were covered in tattoos. If nothing else, progress HAS been made.

There's a bar here in town and every time I go there it's like a high school ruin - it's full of preps and whatever else they are called today.

Anyways they recently started enforcing a rule to keep out people with facial tattoos. I didn't get a reason behind it because I found out through my friend Austin.

Now Austin used to work for a tattoo parlor doing piercings, and he has a bajillion piercings and then a bunch of tattoos as does his wife. Why he even WANTED to go in this bar is behind me because it's just not his crowd.

He posts about how stupid this bar is for this rule etc., but my thing is this - you don't get a tattoo on your FACE expecting the world to treat you the same. It's body modification - and anytime you do it you are trying to change people's perceptions of yourself.

So I kind of think if the douchebag bar in town wants to ban people with facial tattoos, then they should be allowed to and people with facial tattoos shouldn't be so shocked.

I don't think banning anybody from a business based on their appearance is a GOOD thing. I'm not a fan of facial tattoos AT ALL, but I wouldn't judge someone based on one (not saying that you DO, Janie). I would agree that you have to expect certain reactions when you have certain body modifications done, though. Doesn't make it right...but it's true.

i do not really like tattoos at all. One or 2 in small spots is fine.

but im going to be honest they are a huge turn off on chics especially bigger tattoos and when they start covering too much of themselves its just all over from there.

you got to think people how will these things look when your in your 40, 50, 60's......not so hot then...

Maybe it's because I live in bike town USA and most everyone I meet has tattoos, but judging on ink has never been an issue with me. Ironically enough I've been judged a few times for not having tattoos. To some people, you're a poser if you ride without tats.

Amazing the labels people will hang on you if you don't fit into the mold.

I have no tats.. I ride when I can. I leave those "hardcore folks" to decide whether I am a poser or not. Usually I can get in a few miles of winding road long before they ever decide. Life's way too short to judge one another. Just enjoy the ride already.

I would never assume one is a delinquent for wearing them.

Taste and appeal of them I guess is in the eye of the beholder though. From where I'm beholding, clutter doesn't appeal.

I won't lie...if tattoos could be considered a fetish, they would be my biggest one. I find them incredibly sexy as long as they're done well.

I am always fascinated to find out that someone like the 2nd picture would look like the 1st picture when wearing alternate clothing which doesnt cover him up. The guy who did one of my tattoos pointed out that he has his tattoos where he can cover them up (even although he couldnt tell me how many tattoos he actually has) so he looks professional for things like bank meetings. I also keep my tattoos in places I can cover them at work so as not to strike the wrong impression with patients families and likewise people have been surprised to discover that I have tattoos. I also happen to find tattoos pretty hot on a guy. IJS.

When I see someone who has lots of tattoos; I think, "wow, they must like tattoos!"

I know, I know. I shouldn't make snap judgements like that. :D

Without snap judgments, our species would be extinct :p
"Hey that bus looks like it's gonna hit me" = success
"Hey that bus looks like it's gonna hit me, but it's wrong of me to judge it based on appearance" = death

:24: I kid of course

You kid but you're right.

The fact is people do judge, particularly when your looking for work. Not saying it's right or wrong, but reality.

Sure I make judgements about people based on appearances. But the thing about tats is they are something one did at one time. One could be a different person. It's not like piercings that you can let close.

Some tats are very beautiful. My brother in law in a tatoo artist and he's one of the coolest guys I know, he also does beautiful work. If I did get a tatoo it would be from him. But hell I don't even have pierced ears.

See that's another thing people think that's because I'm scare of pain, they keep telling me, it's okay Hart, it won't hurt...hell, I just don't want to wear earrings......LMAO.
