Sister to Sleep

[memento_mori]

the gentle sound of mighty wings
the forever silence she always brings
strikes fear into the hearts of mortals
since we grasp so tight to our living coils

but does she not know divine mercy?
and solves problems we can't foresee?
freedom from pain, doubt, and worry
because she plays judge and jury

she will go wherever she needs to go
leading a path of despair and woe
cursed, blamed, condemned, and scorned
by the people who were falsely warned

man does not know the endless' duties
for the price of wisdom is more than rubies
but if you have courage to look astutely
you will see a trail of peace and beauty

and once you finally understand
there's no reason to fear the sunless land
you will let go of your mortal strings
and listen for her mighty wings
