have you ever been the person the airline is paging to get to your plane or they will take off without you?
you hear these announcements all the time. "Blah-Blah,blah airlines is urgently paging customer Dicks Afloppin to gate #69 your aircraft is boarded and ready for take off...."

Maybe the person they were paging was the pilot?? :p

I have rarely flown so no. Only flown commercial once. Other trips were in corporate "cropduster". Not really a cropduster but a twin engine Cessna.

I was one of the last people to board, from Dubai to Manchester, as I was too busy on my laptop in the depature lounge smooching the internet. XD Though I was doing the same in Mauritius airport, going to Dubai, tweeting while going towards the plane and got told to put my laptop away to which I told them I'm just sending this last email. XD

Almost missed my flight from Las Vegas to Charlotte a few years ago. The line was crazy long at the Delta desk where we needed to put our bags or something. At the last minute they let us cut the line...whew.

Then at Charlotte, we board the plane only to sit on the tarmac forever because the airspace at Newark was too busy.

Nope. I'm a fanatic about getting to the airport plenty early. I'd rather sit in the waiting area and fuck off on my phone or laptop than be worried sick that I'm going to miss my flight.

Plus it gives me a chance to grab a Starbucks before my flight leaves...except for stupid Logan Airport w/ it's stupid Dunkin Donuts on the E Concourse. :mad I'ma need you to do something about that, Peej. :p

UGH Newark... it's a great airport in that it's a fairly large hub so you can get flights to most anywhere, and there's loads of shops and restaurants to keep entertained.... but they have the "if it's on the runway, it's on time" policy that I hate... I almost never fly from Newark without sitting on the runway for 30-40 minutes.

I'm the same way - I always plan on getting their way early, and just bring a good book to keep myself entertained.

Also, I agree about Logan... it's boring to have to kill time there :p

Never. I'm always in plenty of time and kill time reading my book and/or playing on my phone. I travel alone a lot and I am not really one for browsing shops and duty free. I'm usually so skint just at going on holiday that I can't afford to buy anything in the airport so IMO there is no point in looking at what I can't have :p

I'm another one who likes to get to the airport on the early side. When I flew to Winnipeg in April my flight was scheduled to leave at 10:30am. I got off work at 6:00am, went home, grabbed something to eat and showered. I was ready to go by 7:30. free-happy-smileys-839.png

Yup, had it happen once before. I had my flight from Phoenix to LAX delayed significantly... they told me they thought they could get me there in time to make my connection, otherwise I was gonna end up spending the night on the floor in LAX (yippy). The flight attendants were nice enough to tell everyone that I had an extremely tight connection, so I got to go to the front of the plane right after we landed... then I sprinted down from one end of the terminal to the other. About halfway there I hear them calling my name for my final boarding call, and then my shoe fell off... so I had to stop and pick it up, took the other one off, and then sprinted the rest of the way. They saw me about 3 gates away and asked if I was, well... me, and told me I had made it just in time and that they were about to have to close the gate, but were giving me as much time as they possibly could. All in all, quite an adventure... and I'm glad I didn't have to spend the night in LAX, which is all of 3.5 hours from my house.

That's the only time that I've ever heard my name be called... it's probably happened once or twice when I've missed connections due to weather or other delays though.
