Some retreats focus entirely on silence. Do you think silence can reveal emotions we normally suppress? Have you tried being completely quiet for a day or more?

I sometimes practice silence as a form of healing, when you talk, you also need to listen and you might end up listening something bitter, even when you talk you might talk about something painful. However, when you are silent you will listen to yourself and understand what you need to do.

Silence has a way of bringing buried emotions to the surface. When there’s no noise or distraction, thoughts and feelings we usually push aside start to speak louder. I’ve tried spending a day in silence, and it was both uncomfortable and deeply clarifying.

You do not need to talk a lot if you want to heal. Being talkative is not the answer to combating diseases. Sometimes silence and peace can help. I think this is why may meditation practioners tend to focus on silence and calmness.
