Well a former boss, friend of mine passed away, the funeral is today. What is killing me is to find out what happend. He was a Vietnam vet, former Police Officer, turned attorney and then worked for the government about 20 years. He was Morman and was a great boss, a pussycat really. He has a bunch of kids and they were spoiled rotten and his wife was a sweetheart. When was quite a bit overweight and had diabetes. Last I saw him, he started having mental problem-was combative and his wife was having trouble coping-added to that his kids had financial problems and a bunch of them had moved back in with them.
So I come to find out Mark and his wife had gotten to the point they sold their house and moved into an assisted living facility.....good. BUT, they appointed their daughter power of attorney. Six months down the road they were told to vacate-the bill hadn't been paid for six months, their bank account was closed out and they were left destitute! Daughter used up money for drugs..........
Why the hell nobody told them is beyond me, but they end up living with friend at 66+ year old, Mark out of his mind, Joann being so frail, pisses me off! Then Mark has a series of heart attacks. A coworker/friend who works here tells me all this, they get Mark on disability, his veteran's check, retirement check from here and Social Security check straightened out (don't know if daughter when to prison or not, but little or no $ recovered). So they were about to get back into assisted living. He up and dies.
I'm leaving work to go to the funeral. Then I may get royally pissed tonite.:rant:
