Should Society Strive for Total Equality or Fairness?

Equality ensures everyone gets the same opportunities, while fairness considers individual needs and circumstances. Which is the better approach for a just society? Can true equality ever exist, or will differences always create imbalance?

I think it should be a combination of both, especially in developing economies where multiple races exist. In my home country, multiple communities earn less than athe country's standard income. To help these communities, reservation is needed.

I believe society should strive for fairness over total equality. For example, giving everyone the same education doesn’t help if some students lack basic support. Fairness means addressing individual needs, like extra help for disadvantaged groups, to truly level the field.
