The last three days my computer's fan has been running almost constantly when in use.

It's hot outside.... but the AC is on and the house is a cool 75 degrees.

Any suggestions?

Have your husband take the cover off the bloody thing and blow all the dust out of it. You'll be surprised at what's in there.

PS: Make sure he does it outside or you'll be ducting for a week.

Dust you say? Oh oh..... I bet you are right! I'll have him check it out once I'm off line. Thankz! :)

The computer is sitting at floor level inside the cabinet area made for it on my computer cabinet. The back is open of course so that all the cables and stuff can be hooked up. I'm sure the pet hair will be there too. :willy_nilly:

I bet Guy is right! I think Bryan said we're supposed to clean it out like once a month or something.

Once a month? That wasn't even in the manual. (Not that I had a manual...... )

I clean the computer cabinet every week. Guess I'll make sure to take care of the computer monthly from here on out.

I suppose when it needs cleaning again.... the fan will alert me like it is now...... if I should forget to do so beforehand.
the frequency depends upon a lot of factors. check it in a month after you clean it and see how it looks. From there you can adjust the schedule. You don't want to wait until the fan is running all the time. That means there is excessive heat inside and heat kills computers ;)

If only you lived closer...... Oh wait! You meant..... ummmmm....... :ninja

Anywho..... I'm going to log off shortly and take things into my own hands........

...... with the computer.....

to clean it......

Yes. That's exactly my plan.

First off..... my PM reply didn't arrive.... Just sayin'..... *cricket noises at this point* :cool

Secondly..... That's a swell idea about the schedule thing. I'll definitely be on top of things now.

Thirdly..... I'm thinking of making a new thread about..... yes.... you may have guessed it.... REPLYING TO PM's AND/OR EMAILS. Good Etiquette is such an issue at times. :D

Well..... The de-dusting didn't take long at all. I was shocked at the vents on the sides to be sure. Husky/Collie hair! Apparently, while she was lying at my feet.... the shedding hairs found a new home. I am now requiring that she lay on the opposite side of my feet just to be safe.

Inside.... It wasn't all that dusty. Never the less..... it was blown out.

The fan is now silent. :D
