Should Christianity adopt Islam’s laws of sins of the flesh?
There is a fair bit of noise nowadays about Sharia law.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ywlfbu-wjGU

I am not advocating Sharia law for our secular system but have to wonder if Christianity would be well served by adopting Sharia law for the Church.

Islam must change as it enters into secularism. It, like all Abraham based religions, need much improvements to their laws but, in terms of sins of the flesh, they may be above the Christian ethos. Abortion, infidelity, and other inappropriate sexual habits seem to be better handled by Islam. They have gone the wrong way in some of their cults, the so called rape law, exemplifies this, but I think that this is just a blip to their overall theology and will be rejected soon. Their homophobic stance also must change.

The spread and customs of abortion and unwed mothers in the west, as well as the numbers of men who do not do their duty to their children, is not good. Family values, although still healthy in the west, is taking a good beating. Perhaps it is time for Christianity to look at other religious systems including Islam, and adapt what it and others do to Christian families, if they find the new system better.
I would think that such a move would also be a good time for Christianity to redress their shameful religious discrimination and denigration of Gays.

I did not bother with statistics as I think that what I have said is well recognized as fact. The U S situation is well known. In this O P, I would include fornication, infidelity, prostitution, unwed mothers and abortion. Homosexuality, I do not consider as inappropriate sex but know that it will be expressed by the homophobes.

Should we recognize this better part of Islam, in terms of dealing with sins of the flesh, or should Christianity just continue with the dismal record that it presently has?

Should christianity adopt Islam's sins of the flesh? Thought they already had that in the first place...I don't think Christians will adopt Sharia's law

I understand why people feel that certain religions and churches need reformation and change regarding their laws and doctrines. Adopting the Sharia into the church or into Christianity as a whole, in my opinion, would not be beneficial. You have to remember that within Christianity, there are many different views, opinions, doctrines and laws. What one denomination may believe or practice, may not be the beliefs of another. Some church denominations practice their faith based on laws and doctrine, while others focus more on the personal relationship with God.

Furthermore, why would someone be so set on changing a religion so that it better fits their beliefs? Regardless if you go to a Catholic, Methodist, Baptist, Church of God, or non-denominational church, are Buddhist, Muslim, Atheist, Agnostic, Gnostic Chrstian...you go to that specific church and follow those specific beliefs because you agree with them and believe the way they believe.

There are religions and sets of beliefs that are best fit for each individual person. If you don't agree with a certain religion, it's doctrine, it's laws, it's beliefs - then don't follow it. I do not feel that a religion should change its beliefs by adopting another set of beliefs in order to make itself more suitable for the masses. It's a personal choice and thankfully we are given the religious freedom to decide and follow what is best for us!

Sharia law is barbaric. I fail to see how anyone can consider this a better part of Islam.

As I said, some modifications would be needed but if you count the number of zygotes killed by Christianity, and give them value, then you will note just who is more barbaric.

To not give credit where credit is due is wrong.

Sharia Law is not something we want in Western society. The Muslims know this - they have fled their countries to escape it.

Some of it for sure.

The laws they do keep though, in terms of abortion, are way better than what we practice and we are fools if we do not look into them.

They are changing. Why can't we?

Perhaps.
It depend on whether or not we like to kill hundreds of thousands of zygotes yearly as compared to the few Islam kills.

Yes. And this wonderful choice insures that the destruction of hundreds of thousands of zygotes continues unabated when it could be drastically reduces.

Can't change Church customs and fashions now.

All religions should just merge. Its not like they don't believe in the same god, they just need to rework all their stupid little god laws

I think we should get rid of religion entirely. Have your religion and your churches, but keep it to yourself.

What happens then to the abuse of children that would come out of these religions that people keep to themselves?

Do we ignore them? Ignore child abuse as in the killing of witches in Africa?
How about J W and the blood of their children here at home?
