sex in the 80s : pop sex

at 01:35 am Sunday morning,
on ch4 there was a programme that left no yawning.
in was from the decade that did promote promiscuity,
it takes you from concerts to clubs and to the bi-sexual community.
Boy George hit the seen, and so did that look,
girls wanted to be boys and vise verse, androgynous took.
George Michael was still in the closet, we were all dumber,
the whole time he is having it off with John Moss, the bands drummer.
to the market they had to appeal, bring in the legality,
1980s were so underground and that's reality.
videos were cut and vastly edited,
and that's why Lee John deserves to be credited.
the clubs were all about free love and sexual activity,
until AIDS hit, and gone was the gravity.
the singers done there bit, and condoms were promoted like gold,
this was now deadly serious, the world could fold.
now onto the end of the 80's, time to wave,
drugs and Ecstasy are now here, launched in rave.
i think the 1980's were original, they set the trend,
and yes music is ruled by sex, its the industry's best friend.
on goes the cycle, death, sex, love etc music will breed,
but sex in the 1980's left a irremovable seed.

(did anyone watch this show on ch4 last night? it was great and i learnt a great deal. what are your views on 1980 music )

The 1980s were probably the worst decade ever for music and fashion. Yay for gender benders! Just as annoying as emos but at least emos fashion isn't quite as tragic.

the 80s? blinded with no idea how to deal with the AIDS epidemic (the one in Africa and in Homosexuals and the genuine ignorance of people labeling the disease) Aidos infected d--k sucker. Drug use rampant through the population, bad clothes and too many one hit wonders to count....at least we had Live Aid....

There were a lot of GOOD bands in the 80s, but the 90s is a dead generation. We'll never have that kind of music back.

I dunno, alot of my favorite music comes from late seventies into early 90's artists. (even though the bands may have formed earlier):

Anthrax
Metallica (Pre- Black Album)
Sisters of Mercy
Bauhaus
Edie Brickell & New Bohemians

(and yes, I did have a soft spot for some of the pop stars)
