From IMDB:

Hollywood superstar Will Smith is investing more than $1 million in a new school near his California home. The I Am Legend star has paid $889,000 to lease the Indian Hills High School in Calabasas, after failing to find a suitable institute for his two young children, Jaden, nine and Willow, seven. The actor and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith have, until now, been home schooling the pair. A spokesperson for Smith says of the school - renamed the New Village Academy of Calabasas: "Will is leasing the campus for three years, plus he'll cover all costs such as utilities. The academy will be run privately, and will include pre-kindergarten through grade six."

I find it extremely hard to believe that schools are so bad in the US that someone with shed loads of money couldn't find a good private school to send his kids to.

I'd buy my kids (if I were to ever have any) their own school if it meant them getting a better and safer education lol..

I love you too Tildy :) thanks.

Peter, I guess you have a point, kind of... home-schooling does tend to socially handicap its 'victims', but it has also had a lot of positives for me personally. Obviously years 11/12 were a difficult learning kerb at times, but I got through them alright.

I reckon home-schooling is very much a viable option, parents just need to ensure that their kids are getting a lot of social activity at the same time, and actually have the potential to have friends... I know that would have made my teenage years a lot easier.

No offence, I was home schooled till I was 14, it made life hard for me when I went back to school, personally.:)

I only went to public school for 2, the rest was Catholic and home schooling. The 2 years in public school was a nightmare that if I ever have kids, will not subject them to.
