WASHINGTON - Sen. David Vitter, R-La., apologized Monday night for “a very serious sin in my past” after his telephone number appeared among those associated with an escort service operated by the so-called “D.C. Madam.”
Vitter’s spokesman, Joel Digrado, confirmed the statement in an e-mail sent to The Associated Press.
“This was a very serious sin in my past for which I am, of course, completely responsible,” Vitter said in the statement. “Several years ago, I asked for and received forgiveness from God and my wife in confession and marriage counseling. Out of respect for my family, I will keep my discussion of the matter there — with God and them. But I certainly offer my deep and sincere apologies to all I have disappointed and let down in any way.”

Why is it that every time that there is some sort of sex scandal, it comes from within the moral majority party?

It does say that he asked God to forgive him... so I guess it's ok now.

It doesn't. Sex scandals don't discriminate. We are all susceptible to falling into a sexual scandal.

Unfortunately, in my opinion, many don't view sex as having any parameters that they should follow. So, I wonder if there would even be anything to report since they do not view their own behavior as scandalous. In their eyes they were just swapping partners, or getting blowjobs on the job, they are addicted to porn, and they see no issue with their behavior what so ever. Yet it is these people that are not sorry for their own behavior, that will persecute someone else for behaving in the same manner as they do everyday. Why don't they say, "Hey dude it's all good. Loosen up. Nothing wrong with calling a call girl."

It does say that he asked God to forgive him... so I guess it's ok now.
What he is saying is that it is ok between him, his wife, and God. That does not equate to the fact that there are not temporal consequences for his actions.

He's pulling the god card so people will have pity for him. "Awwww he believes in god I guess he's an ok guy after all."

i think you may be right here, but we dont know, and i think the biggest thing he said out of the whole thing is that he has already talked about this with his wife, several years ago, the matter should have ended there, between them, because its between them (and god, if thats what he wants, but a wife is just as good to me) in the end, no one else, if she wants to forgive him and he vows to change, then it is their life to live, together.

Exactly what I was going to say :)
Who are we to judge him anyway? that was his personal life and if his wife forgave him, then we should do nothing else but forget about something that was not our business anyway.
Besides, we still have his politics to disagree with... :D
