i think i'm going to enjoy what this crowd does with this post much more than what the people at thoughts are going to do to it.

Genesis 1:1-3 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

God makes light after he makes the Earth
Scientists say some galaxies are so far away, the light travelling from them has been travelling for 13bn years, some 10bn years older than the Earth

Genesis 5: God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day
Genesis 16: God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars.
How can day and night exist with no stars, Moon or Sun? How can light have been made on day 1 but the cause of light created on day 4?

Genesis 37-39: And Jacob took him rods of green poplar, and of the hazel and chesnut tree; and pilled white strakes in them, and made the white appear which was in the rods. And he set the rods which he had pilled before the flocks in the gutters in the watering troughs when the flocks came to drink, that they should conceive when they came to drink. And the flocks conceived before the rods, and brought forth cattle ringstraked, speckled, and spotted.
It is not scientifically possible to genetically change the colour of cattle’s coat using twigs and sticks.

Genesis 5: 3-6 When Adam had lived 130 years, he had a son in his own likeness, in his own image; and he named him Seth. After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters. Altogether, Adam lived a total of 930 years, and then he died. When Seth had lived 105 years, he became the fatherof Enosh. After he became the father of Enosh, Seth lived 807 years and had other sons and daughters. Altogether, Seth lived a total of 912 years, and then he died.
All evidence points to prehistoric human life spans of between 25 to 40 years.

Genesis 11: 5-9: But the LORD came down to see the city and the tower the people were building. The LORD said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.” So the LORD scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. 9 That is why it was called Babelbecause there the LORD confused the language of the whole world. From there the LORD scattered them over the face of the whole earth.
This story is supposedly set 2000-2500BCE however we know that various languages existed long before this date.

Numbers 22: 30. The donkey said to Balaam, “Am I not your own donkey, which you have always ridden, to this day? Have I been in the habit of doing this to you?
Donkeys cannot talk.

Leviticus 11: 13-19. These are the birds you are to regard as unclean and not eat because they are unclean:the eagle,the vulture, the black vulture, the red kite, any kind of black kite, any kind of raven, the horned owl, the screech owl, the gull, any kind of hawk, the little owl, the cormorant, the great owl, the white owl, the desert owl, the osprey, the stork, any kind of heron, the hoopoe and the bat.
The bat is not a bird

Leviticus 11:6. The rabbit, though it chews the cud, does not have a divided hoof; it is unclean for you.
Rabbits do not chew the cud.

Leviticus 11:20-23 - "All flying insects that walk on all fours are to be detestable to you. There are, however, some flying insects that walk on all fours that you may eat: those that have jointed legs for hopping on the ground. Of these you may eat any kind of locust, katydid, cricket or grasshopper. But all other flying insects that have four legs you are to regard as unclean."
Insects have six legs; no insect has four legs, including crickets and grasshoppers.

Why would an all-knowing God get so much wrong?

    freespirit1978 Imagine all the rabbit you've missed eating due to a silly mistake that "god" made - how could "god" be so silly to think rabbits chew the cud?!?

In a way I must agree with Tough. All those quotes are anonymous. Scholars think they were probably written while the ancient Hebrews were in Babylonian captivity. So we have an idea when they were written but nobody knows who wrote them.

Yes, But original inspired Torah - To Moses - is devoid from any contradictions :)
actually, the rabbis will admit to contradictions saying that then is not like now and that the torah is not necessarily a standalone document but needs the codified oral traditions to be fully understood.

Oh my goodness, you seem to have jumped from 5 to 16....if your intentions were to create the illusion that after 5 comes 16 then you shouldn't have wasted your breath with those of us who have already conquered the art of reading and posted this little tidbit where it would serve you better.....on a short shelf between 'Dick and Jane' and "green eggs and ham'.....lol

6Then God said, “Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.” 7God made the expanse, and separated the waters which were below the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse; and it was so. 8God called the expanse heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, a second day.

9Then God said, “Let the waters below the heavens be gathered into one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so. 10God called the dry land earth, and the gathering of the waters He called seas; and God saw that it was good. 11Then God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit after their kind with seed in them”; and it was so. 12The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit with seed in them, after their kind; and God saw that it was good. 13There was evening and there was morning, a third day. 14Then God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years;

and last but not least...

Gen 15 God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years;

The first light is not an object giving out light but a light that is more spiritual. There is a light, which is God, that is good. Darkness is the absence of light, which is bad.

God separated the light from darkness.

The second light is the actual object. Sun. Moon. Stars. This is physical, not spiritual.

I may return, if you're at all lucky, to educate you further,but its sunday morning, my most favorite time of the whole week, and I'd just hate to waste it;)

Genesis 1:5-16 is very interesting. It gives us a glimpse of the ancient mind. To the modern mind, it is obvious daylight comes from the sun. But the ancient Hebrews saw the sun as only one source of daylight. They didn't know the earth's atmosphere scatters blue light. They saw blue light coming from all directions, not just the direction of the sun, and failed to realize the source of all the blue light in the sky is the sun.
