Cool video! There is enough wonder in nature to satisfy the spirituality of those who are not mystically inclined.

amazing video Minor, thank you for sharing.

"… and there might yet be a heaven, and it isn't going to be perfect, and we're going to have to build it ourselves."

Very profound stuff indeed.

And great minds think alike, been watching this today on abiogenesis, not quite as powerful and doesn't talk about religion at all, but a really interesting look at the origins of life in all its forms within the universe:

Evolution of Life On Other Planets is proof Rhawn Joseph should stick to psychiatry and leave evolution to those qualified.

Why Scientists Don't Fear Hell is good. I really liked the ending quote... It's your mind, fight for it!

Yeah Joseph's video took some very serious wrong turns, but it's an interesting idea. I like the way he thinks evolution was not random, which implies that there is someone controlling it... some of what he says checks out, but his conclusions are out there for sure... and not to mention that on his website he claims not to be religious or a creationist yet his video implies intelligent design...

The guy behind the other videos is just awesome.

Amazing video. Thanks for sharing :)

I also encountered this organization b4 'Reason to Believe' which was founded by Hugh Ross who is post-doctoral Research Scientist at Caltech in the 1970s and founded this org to bridge the gap between Science and Faith. They've got amazing topics about link of science and religion and even quoting Biblical verses esp from Old Testament to show evidence from the Olden times which are just discovered now by scientists. Truly amazing ;)

Btw- I've attended one of their seminars and they have special guest speakers who were Atheists from Harvard and other distinguished schools all over the world who got converted due to the scientific evidences. Just sharing, of course :D

I've read a lot about that, and it's all completely false. It's all down to the more modern interpretations of The Old Testament etc than the scriptures actually saying it. Otherwise religion would have known about the atomic world...

When that book was written, it was believed the Earth was the centre of the universe. It was believed the Earth was made by God in a few days, not constructed by millions of years of physical laws, energy and matter.

You see, all religions were basically explanations for things no one at the time understood. No one knew about gravity, about motion, about matter, about the atomic world... so they invented explanations that was the best their limited understanding of the natural world could come up with.

Believing in a God is fine, no one knows either way. I'd like to think someone or something created the universe. But the scriptures, organised religion etc is the problem these videos talk about. They're open to such interpretation that every generation of preachers changes the meaning of them. And every scientific study takes us further from the traditional notions of what God is.

You would do well to avoid organisations like http://www.reasons.org/ ... they do not adhere to the rigorous processes that true scientific research demands, and they claim the Bible to be error free... I mean, that is a dangerous attitude to have.

Your opinion and if you have faith or not is what you stand for and same is true with mine. I have my own faith and i cannot impose that on you and vice versa. Your belief in the Bible nor religions is totally opposite from mine given your statements. I didn't post that to cause a discussion thus my words 'just sharing' in relation to what the first video is all about which is the evidences coming into light to link religion and science which wasn't the case a long time ago. :D

Sorry to burst your bubble but I didnt post to debate ;) ( i know you'll say, but, but... this is under philospohy and debate/religion. My words " Ah well, this is a free world" :p)

what happened to transition in the video you mentioned how kids enjoy science and adults fear it... I think it's coming to grasp that one day you are going to die. And I don't mean just thinking of it in the back of the mind, let's say you are one of the person who eats healthy and exercise all the time, living in a positive environment, and you expect to live up to 90 years old, do you think in reality that's how life is? How many with the same attitude towards life and death are passed on due to accidents, and second chances. For many their mind starts questioning what really life is, and what really death is. That's where the fear comes in.

You think death is easy? You think you can handle the pain of bleeding to death? You think can stay firm and strong when you're not able to breathe and you are suffocating? What about medical malpractice that jeopardizes people's lives.

Don't anyone of you tell me you can handle the stress I have put on this page without actually living it.

Death doesn't have to be scary or hard, that's the thing. When I die, I just want to be happy knowing what I leave behind is great, and that I enjoyed every bit of my life, that it was the best I could do.
I don't need a god to believe in to make me feel better, some invisible non-communicative fake-arse entity is not going to make me feel better/motivated to stay strong in a tough time. If I am on the brink of death, I would fight for life itself, for the people I have and love, that's my motivation, my will to try and stay alive.

What does this have to do with the topic?
