I'm breaking this up into two posts so that someone with dial-up
gets a chance to see them.
First of all I do have shots of Sandhill Cranes but they were taken at a zoo so I didn't put much stock into them. These shots are of wild birds and just seeing them made my day.
I was having a relaxing sit on a bench at one of the bird sanctuaries I go to when out of nowhere this fellow came walking by withing five feet of me. I was a bit cautious because they can be somewhat vicious during breeding time but he seemed relaxed enough for me to start shooting.

I decided I needed a head shot so I took it.

Then without warning he decided to fly off so I cracked of a few.
