Just watched a very interesting documentry on this place by Louis Theroux. Got to admit it opened my eyes and the place seemed rougher and a world away from British prisons. I found the gang power especially very disturbing combined with people with no chance of release. So what do we really want, rehabilitation or revenge or something inbetween?? With no hope and no chances for rehab this place came across to me as very pointless. I really dont see what good a prison institution does if the whole attitude of the guards is that these people will just re offend if and when the're released again. Thoughts?
