I do need a kicking to get all my California and Canada pics uploaded to flickr...

Anyway, here's a few from San Diego Wild Animal park. Click each image for a bigger view if you like.

The lions and gorillas especially were 'fixed' quite extensively in lightroom. They were near the end of the day, light was getting low and I still needed to take the pictures speedily as these lions didn't sit still for long. Hence, dark pictures with noise that needed fixing. Never a good combination and I'm not really satisfied but what can you do eh. Especially as I did not have a very quick lens (e.g. one with a fast aperture).

Unwanted attention from the young, smaller male. This lady was not impressed.

The park also had strays... that would come in and nick the food like this one wandering around randomly.

I have no idea what this one was doing. It would stay looking up for ages. All the time I spent watching it (about ten minutes) it was like this, only on occasion would it let out a cry.

Didn't quite get the 'heart' shape as these two butted heads.

great pics

Thanks Dana!

damn....you never got the t.rex

i must go to the wildlife park myself this summer

Aye, that beast must have been sleeping :p

The time passes too quick visiting these places. Me and my friend arrived there early but I guess spent too long travelling around and didn't notice it was getting late by the time we got to the lions.

Still, Some of those animals seemed so close. The lions looked as though they could easily have jumped the fences etc that were around.

I live only an hour away from there and I've never been.
Very impressive, did you do the safari-type tour?

Thanks Dex :) there were two types of tour that I vaguely remember, one was longer and more private - my friend and I did the cheaper half hour or so one. It was still good though.

I reckon he was thinking about food! You can find a couple more giraffe pics and another more drawn back cheetah+friend pic on my flickr set here:

It's well worth a visit to that park.
