Russian President Vladimir Putin has offered more money to Russian women that have babies. Dealing with a decreasing population (it reduces by about 700,000 each year), he has increased the economic incentives to have babies.
Many young families in Russia are having no, or only one child, due to financial problems. Under the new incentive, a mother would get about $55 per month, which is half of the average wage. A second child would bring in 3,000 rubles a month, which is about 110 American dollars.
Young Russian families are saying the money is not enough to keep up with the costs of living and having children. Others say people will abuse the system and it will go "towards vodka."
What do you think? Should the government give families money when they have children?
