The leaders of both Russian and China slammed the U.S. economic system, blaming it for leading the world into the current financial crisis.
Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao both expressed their desire for cooperation with President Obama but attacked the capitalism of Wall Street.
In blunt language, Putin said it was "dangerous" for the world to rely on the U.S. dollar and both leaders called for major reserve currencies to be better reguated.
The Russian leader mocked U.S. businessmen who he said had boasted at last year's Davos meeting of the U.S. economy's fundamental strength and "cloudless" prospects. "Today, investment banks, the pride of Wall Street, have virtually ceased to exist," he said...

While Mr. Wen never named the U.S., his critique of its failings was as sweeping as Mr. Putin's. The financial crisis, he said, was "attributable to inappropriate macroeconomic policies of some economies and their unsustainable model of development characterized by prolonged low savings and high consumption; excessive expansion of financial institutions in blind pursuit of profit" -- and other excesses.

Yeah when it comes to understanding the working of a capitalistic economic system I would always go to the largest communist country and one that is almost communist.

There is ample proof now that the capitalist system can be fundamentally flawed

Huh? Nothing wrong with the capitalistic system just in how its implemented. BTW, had those firms hedged their bets they would have come out just fine. There was nothing wrong in the product just in the failure to reduce the risk. That's not the fault of a capitalistic system. Risk is what makes the system work, controlling that risk is what makes it profitable.

Not only that, but I firmly believe that the economic crisis was NOT the fault of "greedy" capitalists. It was the guys on capital hill when Bill Clinton was president who pushed to get minority groups and poor people into houses they couldn't afford. Those policies finally came crashing down last year, with the results we are seeing now.

Also, I think there is a valuable lesson to be learned in this, and that financial companies will stop trying to give out so many subprime loans. But, I do NOT believe the government needs to regulate the housing industry any more than it already is. If companies want to drive themselves bankrupt by offering too many subprime loans in the future, then so be it. Let them fall flat on their faces. And let all the other companies who have learned from this crisis stand by and laugh at them.

In response to the article, any country that is solely reliant on the US for their own economic well-being is just plain stupid. If you're going to rely on another country like that, don't blame the other country when it goes down and you go with it. Political absurdity at its best.

Detroit will collapse within a year despite the bailout. Inefficient companies should be allowed to wither away. Citibank cut 53,000 jobs before the bailout. Catepillar cut 20,000 jobs 3 days ago without any bailout. Detroit has yet to cut jobs and this speaks volumes abt its manangement and unionists. Detroit needs a Lee Iacocca

Whats with the economic stimulus plan. Not a single GOP member voted in favour. You people are still divided during a crisis

Good point. America is to blame because they provided the basket for us to put all our eggs in.

Obama's 819bn economic stimulus package
You're not making sense. You complain that Bush abandoned his principles, then complain that Repub congressmen held to theirs. You complain that all GOP members voted as a block, and say that's evidence of a division.

Dude ... take a breath.

That's gonna fix this whole mess:24:

I wish I could remember the name of the senator yesterday who said "I can't see 4 million jobs created with this.....I'm not sure I see one job created......Show me one job in here"

Another senator jumps up and says "What good does a tax cut do without jobs? We need to act quickly to help our economy and generate jobs"

Translation: Everyone line up, we know we ain't creating no jobs....So you get a freebie, paid for buy those who will always pay taxes.....You're welcome

Government handouts...It's like communism light
