Starts tomorrow. England always seem to turn it on for the world cup even if we are only 5th favourites and we've had a good run in. Be interesting to see if the hosts and favourites, New Zealand follow tradition by fucking up again.

10 September:
Argentina v England, Otago Stadium, Dunedin (0930 BST)

18 September:
England v Georgia, Otago Stadium, Dunedin (0700 BST)

24 September:

England v Romania, Carisbrook, Dunedin (0700 BST)

1 October:
England v Scotland, Eden Park, Auckland (0830 BST)

It's France who usually fuck it up.

It's between the tri-nations imo. England and France don't look strong enough to pose a serious threat.

Watching the opening match, New Zealand v Tonga, should be a walkover, 13 minutes gone and the Kiwis are already 8-0 up. Annoying thing about this match though is that we were subjected to a stupid and embarresing Haka by both teams before kick off. Wish the'd get rid of it, it has no place in rugby. If I wanted to see a bunch of men dancing I'd go to the ballet or something.

It part of our culture, if you don't like it don't watch it.

All Blacks will peak early then fail as usual I'm sure. Then its going to be shit for all the people who have gone to NZ for the games because NZ SUCK at losing

i fancy the africans to be honest,i reckon the pressure will get to the all blacks.......the likes of england and france will be there or there-abouts depending on the run-in to the final.as an example of what i mean, the germans got to the final in korea because they had the dream side of the draw and avoided all of the big guns

No, it's part of maori culture (how many of the Kiwi squad are maori's?) and I'm pretty sure they didn't invent it for a rugby match.

Your point? They are representing New Zealand. The Haka is part of the New Zealand culture. Don't get me wrong the fuss over the Haka drives me insane because it is shoved down our throats at every opportunity but before a rugby game I think its cool.

I would not watch it, as you suggest but then how would I know when to change the channel back over without missing any of the match? You see the flaw in that suggestion?
Morris dancing is part of English culture but I sure don't want to see our rugby palyers strapping bells to their wrists and ankles and prancing around the pitch before the game. There's a time and a place for things and a rugby match isn't the time to have a dance.

Thats kind of apples and oranges no? The Haka is a war dance, to get the team psyched up and ready to go into war on the field and to 'scare' the opposition. Morris dancing is a folk dance...

Anyway, it is what it is. Some people like it, others don't. They're not hurting anyone by doing it.

Ah, so off the ball intimidation is ok then? Really think things to do with killing people have no place in sport.

Just sat watching New Zealand do a number on Tonga :p cracking stuff. CMON ENGLAND!

Comfortable win but not the hammering you would have expected New Zealand to hand out to Tonga.

Managed to drag myself out of bed for it. 3-3 currently. Caught the tail end of France's opening game and despite the win was surprised to see that Japan managed to put over 20 points past them, no idea why they are 4th favourites with the bookies, I'd fancy both England and Ireland over them.

Ffs! 6-3 down to the Argies at half time, man down in the sin bin, far too many penalties conceded and Wilkinson misses an easy penalty. Sort this shit out!
