man, it sucks getting old...remembering the good as well as the bad things you have seen, heard about...but his name...just brings chills to the spine thinking the aftermath of that craziness

Yeah, you could just tell on the show... years and years later, it just plagued him. He was ruined from it.

I think it was more the riots and all the controversy afterwards... He just wasn't the type of person that wanted to be in the center of a movement, and didn't want the attention.... too much pressure.

My mistake... He was just an alcoholic. I thought I heard somewhere he was an addict. I honestly don't keep up with the media and was 15 when the beating occurred.

I was being sarcastic... But RIP, I was reading up on him. Looks like he was taking strides to lead a better life.

2 years prior to the infamous video he robbed a store with a tire iron.

None of us are perfect, but it seems he had his demons prior to his fame.

Alcohol of course never helps one with their demons.

I meant since then. He was 25 during the beating. But in recent years he was really trying hard to turn his life around.

Hard to believe that it was over 20 years ago that all that happened. Crazy!!! Anyway, 47 is awful young. RIP, Rodney King. The man was not w/o his faults, obviously, but he did seem to have changed his path since that incident. Hell, how many of us (those of us that are old enough to be able to say it) can say we're not a hell of a lot smarter than we were at 25???

Ever read his arrest record AFTER he became famous?

He seemed to have a problem with using excessive force with women.

Sad that it could of been his mis-fame and fortune (did he get paid) that might of contributed to his excess.
