Well this is not exactly a brand new release, but in Entertainment Weekly I read:

Ridlye Scott's Robin Hood, here are a few things you won't see: a scene where RH steals from the rich and gives to the poor; a scene in which he dons a disguise to win an archery contest, gets Friar Tuck to carry him across a stream, leaves the Sheriff of Nottinghamm fulminating in his boots, or a moment when Robin's men behave in a way that could remotely be described as "merry", or a rousing sword fight, or a pinch of lightness, frivolity, comedy, adventure, or wait, fun! :humm:

Boy am I glad I resisted this at the theater.

Well, to be fair, this one isn't really about Robin Hood the legend but about Robin Hood's origins. It really wasn't a bad movie from that perspective.

I guess there is pseudo-historical and then there is legendary entertainment. The question would be, why would the average movie goer want to see RH? :)

I so love Robin of Sherwood tv-serie. I was young and on summer holiday in my gm:s place. There was battery tv and we have to call my uncle to get that tv and drive it to neighbours house where they loaded batters at hours and after that I watched Michael Praed so happy.. Look what all you have done, Robin! :D

Not a great movie in all honesty.

I found it very slow, tedious... And at the end of it, I thought; "Well what was the point of that?"

robin hood wasn't from nottingham

That's right, he was from Imagination world.

Haven't seen this yet, not too fussed, then again if it hasn't got music by Bryan bloody Adams and Robin Hood walking from Dover to Nottingham via Hadrians Wall in less than a day, it's got to be an improvement

I saw the movie and wasn't very impressed. I do concede that it was an origin movie, but the viewer doesn't realize that until they watch it. The movie concentrates too much on the political events such as King John and the Magna Carta, while throwing Robin Hood in a bunch of pointless scenes. Oh, and it could have just been me, but I had trouble understanding what Robin Hood was mumbling in some of his scenes.
