Hopefully someone can help me with this. I had to ship my computer off to get it fixed and it's coming back with Vista. I'm defiantly going to put XP on it when I get it back and I've been considering doing a dual-boot between XP and Ubuntu 8.10. However I've got somewhat limited space so I'd like to be able to remove Ubuntu if I ever needed. Anytime I tried to do this before (remove Ubuntu from a dual-boot setup that is) I had the MBR for Windows fucked up and I couldn't get it back without re-installing the whole thing. Tried the recovery on the XP disk, never worked properly. So anyway, I was wondering if there's a way to bypass the install of the Grub loader so I could just format my Ubuntu drive (I've got a dual hard drive setup) and go back to having all that space. I've read about one way, but it required a floppy drive and I don't have access to one. I do however, have a nice collection of pen drives if anyone knows if that will work. I've probably got another week before I get my computer back, so I'll be able to try your suggestions then.
