Remember the hot sauce lady from Dr. Phil?

There's a lady on Super Nanny right now who does the same thing.

How common of a punishment is that? I remember my parents putting Tabasco on my thumb to make me stop sucking it, and I got my mouth washed out (heck, even did it to myself once because I said a bad word and knew I was wrong), but I don't feel like that is at all the same.

Who on earth puts hot sauce in a child's mouth?!

was that the same woman who made her kid take a COLD SHOWER if he did something he wasnt suppose to? i want to say it was. she made him first keep hotsauce in his mouth for like 2 minutes then made him undress and stand in the shower with cold water running on him.

my heart broke watching it :(

Many people do.. They think it's the right way to stop a child from doing something..

Showing them instead of torching them is much better..

I like Super Nanny and would say that about 90+% of what she recommends is what I have used as a parent..

I saw her on Dr Phil.. That was awful.. Poor kid.. If I am not mistaken those kids were adopted.. :(

I've definitely learned some things I plan on using. I've never seen her fail. Not with the kids. The parents wind up being the issue.

I know she had adopted them. Did they get taken away?

Super Nanny is great but every kid needs adjustment as required.. :D

Nothing a lot of love, understanding and patience won't help you with.. ;)

I am not sure if they got taken away but she was scheduled for counselling and if she did not accept I think Child Services would step in.. I never saw the follow up so I have no idea what happened after.. :ninja

Damn work got in the way.. :24:

I'm a lucky one per say i never really had a "father"... Just two dudes who tried to act like it and really didnt cut it... One moms still with one. we're on good terms most of the time now as I'm an adult but his idea of being a father was flawed. Given I didn't come into his life until I was 10... Sorry I kinda got off topic.

Not really the same, but I remember one time my brother and I got my sister to eat some cayenne pepper, and then gave her water mixed with tobasco and more cayenne when she started screaming that it was hot.

Yeah, we were a little evil. If memory serves, we got into a lot of trouble for that.

I got my mouth washed out with soap by me mom when I was a tot and I can remember not only screaming me head off but blowing bubbles. It didn't have to happen twice to teach me a lesson.
