But it certainly appears to do so on the mysterious coin-studded trunks dotted around the UK's woodland.
The strange phenomenon of gnarled old trees with coins embedded all over their bark has been spotted on trails from the Peak District to the Scottish Highlands.

I guess its something someone started and people have just added to it over the years, its only 2p pieces anyway, so hardly a waste of money :p

Isn't there a tree somewhere in America where people throw shoes over it or something? Swear I've seen a pic of that somewhere?

At Six Flags Over Georgia there was a "bubble gum tree" in the line to one of the rides, I think it might have been the log flume. Anyway, people in line would stick their chewed gum to the tree. This went on for years. I wonder if it is still there?

That sounds awesome! Maybe you should re-visite the attraction and see if it's still there? :p

Nah, doubt I'll ever return. It's located in Atlanta, the thug Mecca of the south - it can get dangerous at times, with no warning. Not my kind of crowd. But it used to be awesome back in the 70's when I was 14- 15. Me & my best friend had season passes and went weekly through the summer. $20 went a long way for a teenager back then.

I'll hunt around on the web a while and see if I can find a pic of the bubble gum tree.

You'll be OK. Get off the plane, go to the car rental terminal, and get where you are going and meet up with friends that know the area. Make sure you have a GPS - it's a traffic nightmare at times.

OK - back to money trees. :)

I haven't been to Six Flags in years, but the last time I *did* go it was still there.

And it's Thunder River. ;)
