Number 2, Rafael!
It could. I mean we have just as big debt as Liverpool but because we are always challenging for the Title, and qualifying for the latter stages of the Champions League, and getting far in at least one of the domestic cups, and getting on TV a lot (which is worth about £600,000 a game) we are always making money that way. Plus all the merchandise sales etc. For the financial year up to March 2009 we were £20m in profit for example.
Whereas Liverpool, if the slippery slide continues, might not even break even. And in a couple of years when the new UEFA financial rule comes in they won't be able to enter the European competitions because they are in debt in terms of failure to show a profit (interestingly enough, despite having all the money in the world, Man City posted a £96m loss, because of the failure to get far in Europe etc), now sure there's still time but they had better get their house in order and sharpish.
