First I would love to blame David Moores for selling the club to the Americans, second the board for sanctioning all the transfers that were utter crap, partially Rafa's fault but I am not blaming him for the lack of funds

But after the 2006, we didn't win anything of note, yet we had the money available, now Liverpool are cash strapped and now Rafa's departure would leave players like Torres and Gerrard, plus other good players will follow, like Reina and a few others

Last season's results were mainly down to poor refereeing decisions, especially the one against Sunderland, where there was interference in play

And to only put £5million in the kitty for next season, is like a slap in the face..today, what players of any class, are you going to buy with £5million?

martin o'neil will never get into the champions league at villa,if he went to liverpool he'd soon spot any promising kids,just like he has where-ever he's been.......if nothing else he'd build a solid foundation

You don't go from Champions league finals, cup finals, pushing a team containing Rooney and Ronaldo right down to the last few days of the season - to 7th place and knocked out of cups by Reading and out of the Champs League in the group stage because of bad luck with referees.

the refs can play a huge part.....we had it in our relegation season,strachan blasted refs then every decision went against us

I watched Liverpool play a number of times this season.

With Torres, they're a good team.
Without Torres, they're no better than Everton.

Every game I saw without Torres was encapsulated by a marked lack of creativity or guile. They just didn't have anything in their locker to break down defences.

That's their problem, if Torres had been fit all season, he might have scored 40 goals the way he was playing. (18 he scored in just 22 in the end) And Liverpool could have won the league with that.

difference is the F.A.s point of view.....coventry,a team who wins nothing gets relegated through bad reffing...who cares

Another one they are touting, is Hodgson of Fulham, now that really would be a step down, might as well relegate us to the Championship straight away if that is the case

I think to say Liverpool could have won the league with Torres is a lie personally. I mean he played in virtually every game in hist first season and thye got nowhere near the League. Thing that cost Liverpool last season was the amount of crap they had in their team, the likes of Lucas (defend him all you want, he's still poor), N'Gog, Riera, Babel, Insua, Kyriakos. Sure Gerrard didn't play as well last season and to be honest that might have cost them, more, but I still don't think they'd have got anywhere near the top.

Hell, the only reason they are in Europe next year is because Portsmouth went into administration, had that not happened Portsmouth would have got the Europa League spot for finishing runners up in the FA Cup final but instead that place went to the 7th place team, which Liverpool were.

Get a decent manager, have a huge clearout, buy some good players. But even then you have us and Chelsea who are simply miles away from them, and the likes of Man City who have unlimited funds.

seeing as how they did not qualify for the big money champions league and the large debt they seem to have, are they likely to have to spend a lot less on managers salatry and alwo lose big name players, i.e is Liverpool going to become just another premier league club rather than one of the top 4 that always challenges along with Chelsea Man Utd and Arsenal;, i mean could this really happen
