I recently went to install my copy of Far Cry Instincts and it kept freezing up, and when I took the disk out of the drive I realized why. There was a small crack in the disk and every time the drive would try to read that section it would again freeze up. So, I torrented the iso and using magicdisc I mounted the the image to a virtual drive and installed it that way with my cd-key, but I really don't want to keep the images on my hard drive for future installations (they are quite large). Now comes my question, I want to burn the iso image to disc so that I have a working copy again, do I convert the ISO to another format or do I just burn it to disc? (Keep in mind that I want to use said disc to install the game in order to remove the image files from my hard drive)

When you use a program like Nero Burn it should decompress the ISO onto a CD / DVD again.. If you want to burn the ISO as is you can..

I have Nero Express

Like I said, you have two options..

Compressed in ISO Format and just drop and drag..

Or decompress with Nero onto a CD / DVD so it auto--installs..

I believe in ISO format it will not auto install and that is why I had to Decompress Ubuntu onto a CD.. I guess if the version you have on the Hard drive is good you may just want to Copy over..

Oh okay, so if I just burn the iso straight to disc it wont auto-run when I put it in my drive. I'll just use a converter to change the format to a readable type then so that I wont have to manually install from the disc.

Well I'm no expert but I would waste a disc or two and try it.. That's what I always do..

You can always stop and install at the very first sign of starting up.. It usually asks you to agree to the License anyway..

But yes that sounds right..

I tried converting the iso to a .bin file and burning it, no auto-run. Tried burning the iso also no auto-run. Finally I extracted all the files inside the iso, then burned those all to disc and that worked, auto-run and everything. Had to waste 3 discs but finally got it to work :D
