I have been eating vegetarian for about a week now. I have also been pretty sick with a cold/sinus infection, so I haven't been eating a lot.

I have been taking a lot of medicine - Robitussin, Liquid Tylenol, etc.

I also have insulin resistance which fucks with my blood sugar a lot.

Last night I didn't eat dinner - I went to the movies with my mom and had a little bit of popcorn and drank a sprite. Then I went out and drank.

(I know this was stupid in light of how sick I have been, but I was going with the flow and on the premise that I honestly didn't think I could feel much worse.)

I only had two drinks over a period of four hours - but they were pretty strong. I felt fine until I got home and took a swig of vodka (I thought I would keep it going). All of a sudden my stomach felt like I had a brick in it, and then I was sick all night.

I don't think it was regular Alcohol poisoning type sick, because I wasn't even drunk. Not at all. I had the chills, and extreme pain, etc. My stomach still feels like a large brick is in it and it is almost 5PM.

So - was it my blood sugar, alcohol poisoning, drinking on an empty stomach - and is it exacerbated by the fact that I am now a vegetarian and didn't have much in the way of protein or carbs to absorb the alcohol?

Thoughts?

I am no health expert, but I do not believe in vegetarianism.
You have a lack of natural protein and iron when excluding meats from your diet that you normally intake thus affecting your immune system.
Too many chemicals in your system cannot be good for you either, drinking while taking medicine not very good.

This is SO another topic. But I am only doing it for a year to try it. And I am getting protein from nuts, beans, dairy, eggs, etc. Iron can be gotten from vegetables, and I take iron as a supplement anyways so I am covered in that department ;)

I have researched it - not to perfection obviously, but I am trying to go about this in a healthy way.

i know it sounds like i have no common sense

my biggest thing was if being a vegetarian made me more susceptible to fluctuations in my blood sugar and if that is what caused the upset.

I doubt its anything to do with being a veggie, its most likely mixing medication with booze. Drinking on an empty stomach and being ill probably didn't help much either.

i talked to my mom and she got sick too. I think it was the popcorn from the movie. I thought it tasted a little off, but i was hungry and couldn't taste it that much from the stuffy nose and so i ate it.

My stomach still doesn't feel right. I don't want to eat anything...blegh.

This ontop of my wicked cold. Drinking last night of course didn't help ANYTHING...:willy_nilly:
