I was looking into buying a Slvr from somebody, and I have a question about the service plan. I have a Cingular SIM card, and the person I'm buying it from used it for Verizon. Would there be any problem with me using the phone with my Cingular SIM card. Thanks.

Yes! You would need to have the Verizon phone flashed which is something they dont do anymore. Sim cards are only for changing phones with the same service provider.

CDMA Phones

Cingular/ATT sim cards can only be used in cingular/att phones. You cannot use them in othercell phone service providers phones. Same with any other company that uses non-cdma phones. CDMA phones are much better.

Everybody knows(Or at least I thought it was common knowledge) that Verizon doesn't operate with SIM cards. They are like Alltel. But you could probably call your company, port your number to the new phone, and transfer contacts either by hand or have them do it.

As for the SIM card only working for the phone you have, that's also false. Unlock the phone you're getting, and the SIM card will work. For example, I'm getting a T-Mobile phone, but I want the actualy Cingular phone. So, I'm buying T-Mobile's service, I'll buy a Cingular phone, unlock it, and use T-Mobile on the Cingular phone. I've done it numerous times.
