I use them when they are available, but there ARE places I wont use them, like at walmart, i have no real reason why but their fountains creep me out.

I use them as long as the stream is powerful, if it dribbles, I'm not putting my lips that close to it.

The shit they do to with the water that comes out of your own taps is bad enough.

my father in law actually runs the water treatment plant in his tiny town, he's good with drinking the water so I don't worry too much about it. I mean he KNOWS what goes on and still drinks it so *shrug* I do know that the water here on post is amazing compared to the water off post but the drought last year made the water terrible tasting, it smelled and tasted like swimming pool BLECK!

I'm sure it's not overly dangerous, although there have been a lot of studies correlating breast cancer to water fluoridation. Which s kind of startling.

But yeah, often it just tastes... bad. At best, faintly of toothpaste. The water round me definitely tastes a lot better if you leave it over night.

I have the option of paying 3-10 dollars per month for purified water at work and I pass it up in favor of public building drinking fountain water

Meh. If I'm thirsty, and there is a water fountain there, I will drink out of it.

I drank the water that was made on a US Navy ship for years, and it didnt kill me then, so I think I will survive.

I have also drank the tap in Mexico and many other countries. I guess I live dangerously. Although I guess if it came out brown or something, it may make me think differently.

Just 3 days ago I was getting a drink of water from the water fountain in the lobby of a hospital ER
its was almost warm and tasted awful
my first thought is I know they have not been changing the filters and this water is not healthy
I was at a hospital ER WTF not that I was surprised really
I was there because of stomach virus so bad water and that was worse
anyway its well known that the water from the city in most areas is tested and treated 12 or more times a month that should be enough wouldn't you think
oh and by the way bottled water companies test and treat theirs 3 times or less a month but anyway the water fountains are actually contaminated clean water the idea is to maintenance them
they should have something showing a physical read out of the water quality at public fountains
since people cannot just keep them up as they should
I really don't care they can just have a spigot
