I had to laugh when they said something about approval ratings and opinion polls. Bush has never cared about 'opinion polls', as he shouldn't. Voter's opinion counts are what counts.

I do not know enough about the meat of this issue to comment though. I was knee deep in fall semester when a lot of this was in the news.

I think its pretty important for presidents who are supposed to represent the people, pay attention to the people's opinions...that is OUR white house, OUR congress, not his.

Like AEF said, Presidents should represent their people, and despite over 2/3 of America blatantly disapproving what Bush is doing, he just goes ahead and fucking does it anyways. Pisses me off to no end... He has vetoed so many things that would be beneficial to America, without listening to public opinion. He asks his cabinet, who are all Republicans and gee... what the hell do you suspect they will tell him to do?

I wish we could have a president who appointed the person he was running against as his vice president. At least then you could have some sort of balance. (I'm sure someone like Adams or Madison did this, I just can't remember who exactly)

Man I cannot wait for 2008

I do too - voter's opinions. If you can't or don't vote, but participate in a poll - whoopeeity do, the poll is worthless.
