Powis Castle

[Siphorous]

A Welsh one No pictures allowed inside as is the case with many of these things.

I got real close as this sat there just watching the gardens, taking a break.








The hedges have been allowed to grow wild over the years and are cut twice every year.

Bees were about aplenty. They'd venture inside this little hinge like flower and after awhile would pop out. I got disturbed taking the shot I really wanted - of a bee emerging. :mad






There's a few of these cottages in the grounds - you can book time there to stay too.








No idea if these ever used to be anything more than big foot.


Over the hundreds of years the various dogs would be buried in the grounds - these were two of those.

It was used to store ice, way back in the day before fridges were invented.

Thanks chap I did try getting a shot in front of that butterfly but I was on my belly given it was on a ledge with a sheer drop and it flew off

Thanks Ian - it was another one of those 'wait for the crowds to shift so I can take a shot' - but those covered arches definitely looked cool. :nod:

Well, in 2008 - when I was in Victoria - there was one there I was going to go to - but how big of a 'castle' it was I don't know.

Thanks Joey The hedges look good everywhere at Powis - so cool that on most they've just let them grow and then only kept them in trim.
