What would happen if no one voted this year?
What ramifications would occur?
Could the American public complain?
Who would lead then?
What kind of psychological effects would this have upon future candidates?

What if, during the course of democracy, the American people decided to exercise their right to vote for no one, and thus the fabric of the Republic disintegrates into that horrible nightmare of our founding fathers?

This leads me to the inverse:

What compels Americans to vote?
What real benefit does the United States gain from electing someone to the top office, who, throughout history, makes about 5 or so major decisions, without affecting the majority of their constituents?
What are the consequences realized when Congress assembled cannot achieve so basic a set of laws that govern immigration, the one major factor that built this country?
Why cannot one Congressional Representative become the example of how things are to be done on the White Hill of Democracy?

Why cannot Americans as a society become so in tune with politics that they, instead of complaining about a certain decision, and the ramifications thereof, actually take action, and change their position in the world so that they become what they once used to be?

Why does the age limit exist upon certain offices? Surely it is not maturity, for such does not exist to the great extent required of those that currently hold the offices that the Americans have entrusted them with?

George Bush gets four more years. /shrug

this cannot happen, due to consecutive terms restrictions, after what happened with teddy r./f.d.r. 's three terms. too "dictatorship"-like.

so, no, bush would not get four more years. democracy/republic "fails" (quotes, because the people exercised their right to vote - for no one)...

then?
