No. The PS3, when released, will cost around $400, just like the Xbox. The thing that was first posted is just how much it will cost Sony to manufacture each one. But the profit margin is always low or non-existant on a new release such as this, and the way they make profit is by selling accessories and games to the consumers which only work/run on this one particular system. They will only lose money in the first fiscal year...and possibly half the second. From there on, it'll be money in the pockets of those of us who play the stocks.

And in all honesty, what was shown on the spec sheets they mailed out last month...the entire system is just going to blow anything else out of the water. It is simply amazing.

so the PS3 is gonna cost 900.00 ???

Yeah...that's the easy way to put it. Sorry if I came in rather strong with all of this, but I've had to play the stock market for a very long time, and I just know how it goes.

Seriously, though...even Microsoft took a bit of a hit on their Xbox...but not nearly as much as Sony will. And let's face it, MS really screwed the consumer out of a lot of things they promised. At least Sony is still trying to bring us the specs they first stated we would receive. I just want my hands on one...and fortunately, being on the inside of such things, I'll get one of the first shipments. *smiles*

Don't forget this is SONY, they have more than the PS3. They have film studios, electronics, movie theater's etc. they will pull in more money then they will lose. Not to mention Gran Turismo 5 will make a portion of that back but itself because some manufactures are actually paying sony (yes paying sony) to put certain models of cars in there GT series so the public can get a glimpse of them. Think of the 350Z concept on of GT3, sony actullay got rid of some of the planned cars that were going to appear in the game to fit concepts and examples that manufactuers wanted the public to see.

That's not the point. Point is, any major corporation is made up of divisions. The PlayStation line is ONE part of it, yes...but they have their own budget to deal with. Smart businesses don't combine the accounts. They sometimes loan money from other divisions, but it isn't advised.

....

:wtf

lmao You boys wanna know how I'm getting one before you, right?

Let me let you in on a little secret...

...it pays to be nice to someone in distress.

A top official lost his wallet, which had his plane ticket in it. I bought him a new one. I get free stuff all the time. *smiles* That easy enough?

I just have a habit of being in the right place at the right time. The guy could have had another one bought for him by the company...but didn't have time, as they were doing a final boarding call at that minute. So I helped out, gave him my card, and started getting pretties. lol

Kindness pays in more ways than one.
