Picky picky picky

I can't help myself:

Soccer photos scheduled to be taken tonight have been canceled. They will be rescheduled for a later date. We will keep you posted here and on the City website:

Why not just state the obvious? Pictures are canceled and will be re-scheduled. The later date part is a given. Not like they can be re-scheduled for last Wednesday.

Wow. I had to read over that several times to figure out the problem you had with it. It doesn't bother me at all.

I agree- that is being quite picky.

The "later date" was a little superfluous there given what was written.

However, sometimes it adds necessary context.

E.g.

"I can't make that meeting. I'll rearrange it for later."

"I can't make that meeting. I'll rearrange it for a later date."

Yes, it won't be in the past - but it can make a big difference as to when in the future.

For me, that particular thing is no biggy - but I do have my own biggies so to speak
